Quinnipiac then struck for two more runs in the fourth inning. After Moskey reached first on a wild pitch, Vulgamore drove him in with a 2-out double to left field to make it 4-1 Bobcats. Cruz, the next batter, then ripped a single up the middle for the Bobcats fourth run just moments later.
UTSA scored twice in the sixth to cut the lead to 4-3, then Scafariello blasted a solo home run to left field in the top half of the 7th, making it 5-3. The Roadrunners grabbed another run in the eighth, but Hamilton shut the door in the ninth to give Quinnipiac its first win of the young season.
Quinnipiac had five runs on seven hits and three walks in total, and Bobcats' pitchers combined to strike out 12 batters while walking just one.
