
QU Women's Ice Hockey Places League-High 22 Players on ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team placed a program record, ECAC Hockey-leading 22 players on the ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, July 19, 2016. In addition, rising sophomore goaltender Claire Lachner (Commerce, Michigan) was named to the Commissioner's List.
To be eligible for the league's All-Academic team, players must earn a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale or have a 3.00 GPA over the past three semesters. This year marks the second year of the Commissioner's List, which recognizes one student-athlete from each team who achieved a 3.75 GPA on a 4.00 scale. Lachner achieved a 4.0 GPA during this academic year, leading to her first Commissioner's List honor.
Senior Nicole Kosta (Mississauga, Ontario) was honored by the league for a fifth time after returning for her final season of eligibility with the Bobcats. Kristen Tamberg (North Toronto, Ontario), the ECAC Hockey Mandi Schwartz Student-Athlete of the Year, was named to the All-Academic team for the fourth time in her career along with Nicole Connery (Newmarket, Ontario).
Nicole Brown (Oshawa, Ontario), Emma Greco (Burlington, Ontario), Danielle Marmer (Dorset, Vermont), Emma Woods (Burford, Ontario), Taryn Baumgardt (Innisfail, Alberta), Sydney Rossman (Excelsior, Minnesota), Meghan Turner (Bedford, New Hampshire) and Lindsey West (Ajax, Ontario) all earned their third All-Academic team selections for the Bobcats in the 2016-17 season.
Cydney Roesler (Stittsville, Ontario) earned her second All-Academic team selection while rising juniors Alicia Barry (Hanson, Massachusetts), Taylar Cianfarano (Oswego, New York) and Shannon Cherpak were also named for the second time.
Rising senior Mika Nervick (Lakeville, Minnesota) was named to the All-Academic team for the first time in her career as well as all six members of the freshman class from the 2015-16 season: Lachner, MacKenzie Lancaster (Waxhaw, North Carolina), Miranda Lantz (Mildmay, Ontario), Kate MacKenzie (Winnipeg, Manitoba), Randi Marcon (Winnipeg, Manitoba) and Melissa Samoskevich (Sandy Hook, Connecticut).
