The Quinnipiac women's tennis team continues its five-match home stand this weekend when it hosts the Massachusetts Minutewomen on Friday, Apr. 8 at 1 PM at the North Haven Racquet Club (site was changed due to weather). Saturday's match against ASA College has been postponed with no makeup date announced.
All-Time Series vs. UMass
Quinnipiac is 1-13 all-time in 14 meetings with UMass, including 12 straight losses dating back to their last win on Apr. 13, 2003. These two teams last met in Amherst, Massachusetts on Feb. 7, 2015 with the Minutewomen sweeping the match, 7-0. Sydney Young and Rachel Horton pulled off a win at doubles to break up the full sweep.
Scouting the Minutewomen
UMass is playing well once again this season, coming into Friday's match with a 10-6 record, having won their last five matches. Ruth Crawford and Anna Woosley are tied for the team lead with 14 wins a piece, with Crawford going 5-4 at No. 1 singles and 5-2 at No. 2 singles. Ana Yrazusta is the only other Minutewoman with double-digit singles wins, posting 12 this season. In doubles play, Carol Benito and Yrazusta are 15-9, including 9-6 at No. 1 doubles while Crawford and Woosley are 14-7 and 12-4 at No. 2 doubles.

Scouting the Avengers
ASA is playing its first match of the season against the Bobcats this Saturday after scrimmages against Buffalo and Arcadia. The Avengers have won back-to-back NJCAA Division I National Championships. Last season, they became the first team since 1991 to sweep all the singles and doubles matches, and lost just one set in the entire championship tournament.
Last Time Out
Quinnipiac won its senior day match where the Bobcats honored their lone senior, Sophia Dzulynsky. Quinnipiac swept the match, 7-0, and did not drop a single set. It was the Bobcats second straight win as they improved to 8-9 and 3-0 in MAAC play.
Graceful Wins
Sophia Dzulynsky moved within two wins of 100 at Quinnipiac after picking up her 104th overall victory in her career. Dzulynsky won her 10th doubles match of the season with Sitilia Rencheli and her 18th overall of the season. Even more impressive, Dzulynsky has won no fewer than 26 matches in any season since coming to Quinnipiac.
The One Who Continues to Win
Rachel Horton's impressive season continued for the Bobcats this past weekend against Niagara as she won her 36th match of the season. The Bobcats' junior leads the team with 15 singles wins, 21 doubles wins and 36 overall wins. In her career, she has 78 victories.
Silly Sitilia
Sitilia Rencheli has been dynamic since returning to the court this spring as she improved to 16-8 with her two wins against Niagara. Rencheli has 10 wins in doubles, all coming with Dzulynsky by her side, as they prove to be one of the dynamic doubles teams in the MAAC. Rencheli is approaching the 50-career win mark with 45 in her career.
Jenny's World
Jennifer Lu joins the Bobcats ranks with her 25th win of the season, including 13 in singles play and 12 in doubles play. Lu has been great for the Bobcats since the Florida trip, racking up seven wins. Lu is one of four Bobcats with at least 25 wins this season.
Syd the Kid
Sydney Young is getting closer to joining the 100-win club as she won her 91st career match for the Bobcats. Young has 10 wins this season for the Bobcats, four coming in singles and six coming in doubles. Young would become the 21st player in program history with 100 career wins.
Props for Wins
Proyfon Lohaphaisan is second on the Bobcats with 33 overall victories, as she won two matches against the Purple Eagles. Lohaphaisan is also second on the team with 14 singles wins, 19 doubles wins and her 33 overall victories.
Following the Weekend
Quinnipiac will wrap up its home stand with two more matches on Thursday, Apr. 13 at 3:30 PM against the Monmouth Hawks before hosting the Marist Red Foxes on Sunday, Apr. 17 at 1 PM with both matches at the QU Outdoor Tennis Courts.
