
QU Women's Tennis Finishes Third Straight Undefeated MAAC Regular Season with 6-1 Win at Siena

WATERVLIET, New York – The Quinnipiac women's tennis team picked up a 6-1 victory over the Siena Saints Saturday afternoon to finish their third straight undefeated regular season and became the outright MAAC Regular Season Champions.
Quinnipiac (12-10, 7-0 MAAC) won its fourth consecutive match and is now possesses the third most wins in season in program history. Siena falls to 9-9 on the season with a 4-2 record in the MAAC. The Bobcats are now 23-0 in regular season conference play since joining the MAAC in 2013-14. Their record jumps to 27-0 against MAAC competition during that span including the playoffs.
Sydney Young (Austin, Texas) won the 98th match of her career with two victories on Saturday afternoon as she looks to become the 21st player in program history to win 100 matches as a member of the Bobcats.
Proyfon Lohaphaisan (Santa Clarita, California) won her 40th match of the season with a pair of wins for the Bobcats to become the 16th player in program history to record a 40-win season.
Sophia Dzulynsky (Miramar, California) picked up two victories for her 33rd win of the season, improving her record to 33-24 in her impressive senior season.
Jennifer Lu (Cypress, California) won one match and Sitilia Rencheli (Sarasota, Florida) won two matches on the afternoon as Lu picked up her 33rd win of the season and Rencheli crossed the 20-win mark for the second consecutive season.
Rachel Horton (Stamford, Connecticut) won her 43rd match of the season with a singles win to move into a four-way tie for the fifth most wins in a season in program history.
Dzulynsky (7-0), Lohaphaisan (7-0) and Young (5-0) all finished the season with perfect records against MAAC singles competition and five or more wins.
Dzulynsky and Rencheli teamed up at No. 2 doubles to win their 12th match of the season together, defeating Allysa Singh and Natalie Weaver, 6-4, to open up the match with a win. Lu and Lohaphaisan paired up at No. 3 doubles and clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win over Rina Sakai and Ann Phillips. Horton and Young lost for the first time in MAAC play together as they fell to Ali Garrity and Mitsuki Fukamachi at No. 1 doubles, 6-4.
Dzulynsky opened up singles play with a win as well for the Bobcats as she picked up a big straight set win over Garrity, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 1 singles. Siena got within one point in the match as Singh defeat Lu at No. 4 singles in three sets, 1-6, 6-3, 6-3. Young got the Bobcats back on track at No. 5 singles as she defeated Weaver, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2. Rencheli clinched the match victory for the Bobcats at No. 3 singles as she came from behind to defeat Fukamachi, 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (4). Horton nearly went to a tiebreaker in the third set but hung on to defeat Sakai at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 2-6, 7-5. Lohaphaisan rounded out the match for the Bobcats at No. 6 singles with a win over Phillips, 7-6 (1), 7-5.
The Quinnipiac women's tennis team will wrap up the regular season on Sunday, April 24 when they host the ASA College Avengers at the QU Outdoor Tennis Courts beginning at 1 PM.
