Quinnipiac's loss snaps a four-game winning streak as they fall to 13-21 (4-5 MAAC) while Albany extended its winning streak to four games to improve to 14-19 (3-6 America East).
Pescitelli's hit a pair of two-run home runs for the first multiple home run game for a Bobcat since May 10, 2015 when Ben Gibson went deep twice for the Bobcats at the Rider Broncs.
Matthew Batten (Shelton, Connecticut) was just as impressive at the plate as he went 3 for 5 with two triples, three runs scored, five RBIs and a stolen base. Brian Moskey (Higganum, Connecticut) showed poise in the leadoff spot as he went 1 for 2 with four walks and three runs scored.
The Bobcats got off to a great start in the top of the first inning as Moskey led off with a walk and Pescitelli drilled his first two-run home run of the game to jump out to an early 2-0 lead.
Albany scored 22 runs over the next four innings, including seven in the third inning and 10 in the fourth inning. In the third inning, Quinnipiac added one run as Batten led off with a single, stole second and eventually scored on a wild pitch. The Great Danes led the Bobcats 22-3 after four innings of play.
Quinnipiac added 11 runs over the next four innings to bring them within eight runs at 22-14. Moskey walked to lead off the fifth inning followed by a Batten triple to bring him home. Pescitelli belted his second two-run home run of the game to make it 22-6.
Kyle Horton (Monroe, Connecticut) came home to score in the top of the sixth to make it 22-7. He led off with a walk and moved up to second on Moskey's single. After a passed ball put both runners in scoring position, Batten lifted a sacrifice fly to centerfield that scored Horton.
The Bobcats scored six times in the seventh inning as they batted around for the only time in the game. Matthew Oestreicher (North Haven, Connecticut) scored as Aron Fried (Ossining, New York) reached on an error and with the bases still loaded, Joseph Burns (Shelton, Connecticut) scored on a wild pitch. Moskey walked once again to load up the bases before Batten cleared them with his second triple of the game. After a Pescitelli walk, Lou Iannotti (North Haven, Connecticut) flew out to right field allowing Batten to score to cut Albany's lead to 22-13.
Quinnipiac added one more run in the top of the eighth inning as Bodenhamer scored his second run of the game on a wild pitch.
With a day off on Wednesday, the Quinnipiac baseball team will return to action on Thursday, April 21 at 3 PM where they will make up a postponed game with the Rhode Island Rams at Bill Beck Field.
