The Quinnipiac men's tennis team will finish up its home schedule this weekend when they take on MAAC rivals Monmouth at 3 PM on Thursday, Apr. 14 followed by a 1 PM match with the Marist Red Foxes on Saturday, Apr. 16 at 1 PM.
All-Time vs. Monmouth
Despite dropping the last two matches between the two teams, Quinnipiac owns a 14-4 record all-time against the Monmouth Hawks dating back to the 2001-02 season. The Bobcats boasted a 12-match winning streak from Apr. 15, 2003 until Apr. 5, 2012. Last season, Monmouth defeated the Bobcats 5-2 in Quinnipiac's second to last match of the regular season. Jonas Kuwert and Julian Rozenstein each picked up wins for the Bobcats.
Scouting the Hawks
Monmouth comes in with a 7-8 overall record in 2015-16 but are a perfect 4-0 in MAAC play. The Hawks have won two straight matches and four of their last five with their only loss coming to the nationally-ranked No. 33 Penn State Nittany Lions with Nicola Pipoli picking up a win at No. 4 singles for the Hawks. Vidit Vaghela is 13-7 this season to lead the Hawks, going 5-1 at No. 1 singles and 5-2 at No. 2 singles. Nicola Pipoli is an impressive 10-1 and 4-0 in conference play as well. Ale Gomez Estrada is 8-6 while Alberto Giuffrida and Przemyslaw Filipek each have seven wins. Christian Vieira and Giuffrida have six wins this season to lead the team while Pipoli and Filipek have four.
All-Time vs. Marist
Quinnipiac has yet to pick up a win against Marist as they are 0-3 against the Red Foxes since joining the MAAC and have yet to win an individual match. Last season, Marist defeated Quinnipiac 7-0 in the final match of the regular season before winning 4-0 in the MAAC Tournament. Despite not winning an individual match, the Bobcats forced many matches to tiebreakers and third sets.
Scouting the Red Foxes
Marist is an impressive 11-3 this season and also boasts a perfect MAAC record at 3-0. The Red Foxes are riding a five-match winning streak and have won 10 of their last 11 matches. Last time out, the Red Foxes defeated the Siena Saints handily, 6-0. Dylan Fletcher leads the team with a 23-5 record for the Red Foxes. Rudolf Kurz is 16-4 in singles play, including 7-2 in No. 1 singles while Fredrik Bjerke is 17-9 with a 5-1 mark at No. 2 singles. Six different players have 10 or more singles wins. In doubles, Fletcher and Kurz have 11 wins to lead the team with a 5-2 record at No. 2 doubles while Bjerke and Joe Motta as well as Justin Chanthalangsy and Paulo Siracusa have 10 wins.
Last Time Out
The Quinnipiac men's tennis team picked up a 4-1 clinch-format win over the Sacred Heart Pioneers at the QU Outdoor Tennis Courts. Jonas Kuwert and Kei Ezaka each won two matches on the day for the Bobcats to lead the team in wins.
Tight Race
This week is crucial in the MAAC Men's Tennis race as Quinnipiac, Monmouth and Marist are all undefeated in league play with Marist at 4-0 and Quinnipiac and Marist both at 3-0. The Bobcats play both Monmouth and Marist this week while those two won't face off until Apr. 20.
Winning Season
The Bobcats come into the week with 11 wins this season, tied with last season's win total for the most wins since the 2005-06 season when Quinnipiac won 13 matches. This is just the fifth time in the program's Division I era that they have won at least 11 matches in a season. The Bobcats are chasing the program record for wins in a single season with 14 in the 2004-05 season.

The Bobcats are currently riding a four-match winning streak, tied for the longest winning streak of the season when they opened up the year with four wins in the fall.
Looking for 100
Kei Ezaka won his 99th career match on Friday against the Sacred Heart Pioneers as he looks to become the seventh player in program history to win 100 career matches, and second this season after Luke Roser achieved the mark in March. Ezaka is riding a four-match winning streak in singles and seven-match winning streak in doubles, good for eight straight wins overall. Ezaka is 29-20 this season with 14 singles wins and 15 doubles wins. Ezaka is tied for sixth in program history with 50 doubles and is alone in sixth with 49 doubles wins.
Winning Ways
Jonas Kuwert picked up two wins to move up to 22 wins this season, owning a 22-13 record. Kuwert has a six-match winning streak in singles play and four-match winning streak in doubles, good for seven straight wins overall. Kuwert picked up a win at No. 1 doubles with Freddie Zaretsky before nearly shutting out Karan Narula at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-0. Kuwert has 88 wins his career, 43 of which have come as a Bobcat. 20/20 Vision
Julian Rozenstein extended his winning streak to six straight matches, with four consecutive wins in singles and two consecutive in doubles. Rozenstein also tied his single-season career-high with 20 singles victories on his way to 28 overall. Rozenstein has already won 62 matches in his career in just two seasons in Hamden.
Mr. Consistent
Ryoma Haraguchi has stepped up for the Bobcats when called on this season as he picked up a win at doubles with Kei Ezaka to give him 18 wins this season. Haraguchi is just two wins away from tying his single-season career-high of 20 from his freshman season. Haraguchi's nine singles wins are a career-high while his nine doubles wins are tied for the second most in his career. With 49 career wins, Haraguchi is just one win shy of 50 career wins.
Freshman Phenom
Freddie Zaretsky has won three straight matches since making his return to the court for the Bobcats to give him 28 wins this season, going 28-10. Zaretsky is 12-6 in singles and 16-4 in doubles, tied for fifth on the team in wins while his 16 doubles wins are second to Roser.
End of the Season
Following this weekend, the Bobcats have just two matches left which will come on the road. The Bobcats will travel to Fairfield, Connecticut to face the Stags on Thursday, Apr. 21 at 3 PM before the regular season finale at the Siena Saints in Watervilet, New York at 11:30 AM on Saturday, Apr. 23.
