The Quinnipiac University women's golf team will compete in the 2016 Bearcat Spring Classic hosted by the University of Cincinnati on Mar. 25-27 at the El Campeon Golf Course at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida.

The Cincinnati Bearcat Spring Classic
- The 2016 Bearcat Spring Classic will be three rounds over three days with tee times during the first two rounds on Friday and Saturday and a shotgun start for Sunday's final round.
- Quinnipiac will compete against Akron, Albany, Cincinnati, Dartmouth, Florida Southern, Georgia Southern, Grand Canyon, High Point, Hofstra, Jacksonville, Marshall, McNeese, Morehead State, Nova Southeastern, Oklahoma City and Seminole State.
El Campeon Golf Course at Mission Inn Resort

- El Campeon is a par 72 course, with yardage of 3,242 on the back nine and 6,195 for the entire course.
- Surrounded by an abundance of natural Florida beauty, the El Campeón 18-hole championship course was designed by Chicago-based course architect, George O'Neil and built in 1917 - with further enhancements in 1926 by Charles E. Clarke of Troon, Scotland.
- El Campeón is one of the South's oldest golf courses and blends unusual Central Florida elevation changes of more than 85 feet with features of traditional golf design, including spectacular rolling fairways and undulating greens.
- The course's signature hole is the par 5, 17th hole - which features a long double dogleg that has more obstacles than some entire courses.
The Bobcats' Last Time Out
- The Quinnipiac University women's golf team completed the second and final round of the Lady Eaglecat Invitational at LPGA International in sixth place out of the 14 team field. Freshman stand-out Luciana Tobia (La Paz, Bolivia) was the Bobcats' top finisher with a tie for eighth place.
- Quinnipiac's "B" team finished in sixth place while its "A" team finished in 12th out of 14 teams. Winthrop won its home event, followed by Towson and co-host Bethune-Cookman. Sacred Heart and Florida Atlantic slid-in in front of Quinnipiac "B", followed by Towson "B", Hartford, Lehigh, Monmouth and Wisconsin-Green Bay ahead of Quinnipiac "A". Delaware State and Long Island-Brooklyn rounded-out the 14-team field.
Luciana Tobia Named MAAC Golfer of the Week
- Quinnipiac women's golf freshman Luciana Tobia (La Paz, Bolivia) was named the MAAC women's golfer of the week, as announced by the league office on Wednesday, March 23, 2016.
- Tobia becomes the first Bobcat to win the weekly honor in program history while she also becomes the first golfer to take home a conference weekly or month award sinceNicole Scola was named the MAAC women's golfer of the month back on Nov. 13, 2013.
- In the Bobcats first spring competition of the spring season, Tobia was Quinnipiac's top finisher at the Lady Eaglecat Invitational at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Florida. Tobia finished eighth out of 74 golfers after shooting a 156 (+10). Tobia opened the tournament with a first-day score of 79 before shaving two strokes off her second-day tally with a 77. Tobia's two-stroke improvement came on the strength of a tournament-best four birdies for the second round, doubling her first day birdie total. To date, Tobia leads Quinnipiac with a 78.67 average.
What's Next for the Bobcats?
- After the Bearcat Classic, the Bobcats will play in Georgetown University's Hoya Invitational on Apr. 4-5 at the The Members Club at Four Streams in Beallsville, Maryland.

- Luciana Tobia enters the weekend with a team-leading 78.67 per 18-hole round average, including team-leading 1st Round (79.17) and Last Round (78.71) averages.
- Tobia also leads the team in Par 3 Scoring (3.24), Par 4 Scoring (4.44), Eagles (1), Pars per round (9.87), Fairways Hit (.772), Greens in Regulation (.511), Average Putts (31.67) and is second in birdies (21).
- She opened her collegiate career with an 8th place finish at Navy's Chesapeake Bay Invitational before finishing tied for 11th at the Quinnipiac Classic and a seventh place finish at the St. John's Invitational.
- The high point of the first-year Bobcats season came at the DSU Hornets Invitational when she finished tied for first, before losing in a play-off, to lead Quinnipiac to the tournament victory.
- In addition, she also tied the program single-round record with a 70 at the Dartmouth Invitational.
Julia Kemmling
- Freshman Julia Kemmling (Berlin, Connecticut) enters the weekend with a 80.50 average, good for second in the Bobcats' line-up.
- Kemmling shot back-to-back 82's for a two-round 164 and a tie of 25th place at the Lady Eaglecat Invitational on Mar. 13-14.
- Kemmling has posted a team-leading 5.23 on Par 5 Scoring. It also stands as the top Par 5 Scoring in program history.
- She currently leads Quinnipiac with 26 birdies, which is also a Quinnipiac Freshman Record. The Bobcats single-season record is 36, by Nicole Scola in 2014-15.
Nicole Scola
- Two-time All-MAAC stand-out Nicole Scola (Westerly, Rhode Island) enters the weekend with a 80.73 per 18-hole round average, good for third in the Bobcats' line-up.
- Scola shot a two 168 (87-81) at the Lady Eaglecat Invitational and finished tied for 38th out of 74 golfers.
- Scola's 12 birdies this season rank third behind Tobia (26) and Kemmling (21).
- Scola is the Bobcats' career leader in birdies (67) while also owning seven of the top 10 low rounds, eight of the top 10 36-hole scores and four of the top five 54-hole scores.
- Her 78.73 career average leads Quinnipiac all-time.
Taylor Lambrou
- 2015 All-MAAC honoree Taylor Lambrou (Baldwin, New York) enters the weekend with an 83.60 per 18-hole round average, good for fifth on the team.
- Lambrou is coming off an impressive showing at the Lady Eaglecat Invitational in which she shot the second-best round of the 76 competing golfers at the event with a 74 (+1) on the second day. Lambrou opened the tournament with an 85 on Monday, but cut 11 strokes for the second round to finish at 159 (+13) and a tie of 14th place. The Bobcats' senior's single-day turnaround was the single-best improvement in her career.
Estefania Morales
- Estefania Morales (Caracas, Venezuela) made her season debut last week at the Lady Eaglecat Invitational, picking up where she left off as she was one of 15 players in the field to card multiple birdies for the day. Morales two birdies, helped her to a 79 (+6) for the day and tie for 11th place.
- Morales finished the tournament shot an 87 on the second day to finish at 166 for the tournament.
- Morales had a brilliant freshman campaign in 2014-15, posting the second-best freshman scoring average (83.96) in program history.
- She also became the first Quinnipiac golfer to rank among the national leaders, placing sixth among all NCAA Division I student-athletes with a .887 Fairways Hit percentage.
- Morales also posted the seventh-best single-season scoring average in program history, and the second-best freshman average in program history.
Jenn Whaley
- Jenn Whaley (Farmington, Connecticut) enters her third season as the Bobcats' captain. She is the first three-year captain in Quinnipiac Athletics history.
- Whaley is currently averaging 85.62 per 18 holes and ranks fifth in the Bobcats' line-up.
- Whaley's 86.00 average in the last round of play is third behind Luciana Tobia (78.71) and Julia Kemmling (79.43).
- Whaley currently sits at 63 career birdies, good for second place in the Bobcats' all-time record book.
- Whaley will lead the Bobcats in her final season, which she enters with a team-high 37 tournaments played.
- Whaley has averaged 84.32 for her career, while her 2013-14 average (83.21) ranks fourth all-time.
