
Lu and Lohaphaisan Win Three Matches Each as QU Women's Tennis Splits Doubleheader

KISSIMMEE, Florida – The Quinnipiac women's tennis team split their second day of matches on their annual spring break trip as they cruised to a 7-0 sweep of the North Georgia Nighthawks in the morning before falling to the Northern Iowa Panthers, 5-2, in the nightcap on Wednesday.
With the split, Quinnipiac improves to 6-8 on the season while North Georgia falls to 9-4 and Northern Iowa improves to 2-10.
Jennifer Lu (Cypress, California) picked up three individual victories for the second consecutive day while Proyfon Lohaphaisan (Santa, Clarita, California) also won three individual matches for the Bobcats. Lu and Lohaphaisan are tied for second on the team with 11 singles victories, while Lu picked up her 10th doubles win for 21 overall victories this season and Lohaphaisan won her 17th doubles match for her 28th win of the season.
Sophia Dzulynsky (Miramar, Florida) won a pair of matches against North Georgia to move up to 99 career victories with 21 wins in the 2015-16 season. Two wins for Sitilia Rencheli (Sarasota, Florida) gives her 40 career victories in her college career while Rachel Horton (Stamford, Connecticut) crossed the 30-win mark this season with her 31st win of the season.
The Bobcats picked up their second straight 7-0 sweep with their win against the North Georgia Nighthawks. Dzulynsky and Rencheli once again dominated at No. 2 doubles as the two cruised to their third straight victory and seventh doubles win of the spring as they blanked North Georgia's Kathrin Waidner and Emma Etelalahti, 6-0. Lu and Lohaphaisan secured the doubles point for the Bobcats in their third doubles match together, defeating Simone Krog and Mathilde Baartvedt, 6-2. Horton and Sydney Young (Austin, Texas) finished off the doubles sweep at No. 1 doubles with the 6-3 win against Karina Gurgenyan and Sandra Ungricht.
Singles play was much of the same domination for the Bobcats as Rencheli won her second match of the day, dropping just one set to Ungricht, 6-0, 6-1. Horton followed up with the third point in the match for the Bobcats as she knocked off Gurgenyan in two sets, 6-1, 7-5. Lu continued her strong play at No. 4 singles as she faced Baartvedt and won easily, 6-1, 6-4. Dzulynsky was the only Bobcat to go three sets as she faced Waidner at No. 1 singles, coming back to win, 4-6, 6-2, 11-9. Young has begun to pick up the wins for the Bobcats as she got another win at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-4, over Krog. Lohaphaisan wrapped up the sweep for the Bobcats at No. 6 singles against Lexa Rae Loden, winning 6-2, 6-4.

Sydney Wolfe and Eve Small opened up the match for the Panthers with a 6-3 win against the Bobcats' No. 3 doubles team of Alexandra Mircea (Glen Rock, New Jersey) and Adrian Young (Orange Village, Ohio), 6-3. Jieke Stroobant and Elvira Lopez toppled Quinnipiac's top doubles team of Horton and Sydney Young, 6-3, at No. 1 doubles before Astrid Santos and Gisela Kemper knocked off Dzulynsky and Rencheli, 7-5.
Stroobant and Dzulynsky met at No. 1 singles in with Stroobant pulling away with the 6-2, 6-3 win. Lohaphaisan got the Bobcats on the board with her second singles win of the day, knocking off Wolfe in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. Small took on Kelsi Oliphant (Calgary, Alberta) at No. 6 singles to win, 6-0, 6-3, before Lopez and Horton finished up at No. 2 singles with Lopez winning, 6-4, 6-2.
