Bobcats Hit the Country Roads
This weekend the Quinnipiac acrobatics & tumbling team will travel to West Virginia for two NCATA meets. On Saturday, Feb. 20, the Bobcats will take on Fairmont State and Alderson Broaddus in their lone tri-meet of the season. Saturday's contest is set for 4 p.m. from Rex Pyles Arena. The following day, Quinnipiac will visit Glenville State College for a 1 p.m. matchup at the Waco Center.
Scouting the Battlers
Alderson Broaddus currently sits at 3-0 overall as they welcome both the Bobcats and Fairmont State this weekend. The Battlers opened the season with a dominating home win over Glenville State College before taking first place in a tri-meet against King University and the Pioneers. ABU scored a season-high 268.15 in their first meet against Glenville State before capturing a 262.905 mark in the tri-meet.
All-Time Against Alderson Broaddus
The Bobcats enter the meet undefeated against the Battlers at 3-0 all-time. Last season, Quinnipiac captured two victories over Alderson Broaddus, both coming in tri-meets. QU welcomed the Battlers on Senior Day in Hamden and secured a 274.700-256.710 win over ABU. Two weeks later, the Bobcats traveled to Rex Pyles Arena and took first place over the Battlers and King University. Quinnipiac scored a season-high 289.830 to the Alderson Broaddus' 264.875.
Scouting the Fighting Falcons
Fairmont State will kick off their 2016 season in the tri-meet this weekend. Last season, the Fighting Falcons finished the year 4-6 overall, capturing wins over Gannon, Adrian College, Alderson Broaddus ad King University. Fairmont State hosted the 2015 NCATA Championships, but the Fighting Falcons fell to Hawaii Pacific in the semifinals.
All-Time Against Fairmont State
The Bobcats are currently 5-2 all-time against Fairmont State. In their most recent matchup, Quinnipiac defeated both Fairmont State and Alderson Broaddus in a tri-meet at Rex Pyles Arena in 2014. In that contest, the Bobcats defeated the Fighting Falcons in all six events on their way to a 281.89-274.23 victory.
Scouting the Pioneers
The Bobcats will travel to Glenville, West Virginia on Sunday for their first all-time meeting against Glenville State College. The Pioneers are currently 0-3 to start the season after falling to Alderson Broaddus twice, and once to King University. In their season opener, GSC scored 232.22 points before putting up 243.460 in the tri-meet at King.
Last Time Out
In their season opener, the Bobcats fell to the defending NCATA Champions, Baylor, in a tight meet, 286.96-278.775. Quinnipiac won both the Compulsory and Pyramid events against the Bears.
Perfect 10's
Against Baylor, the Bobcats captured two perfect scores on the day. Quinnipiac put up a 10 in the Pyramid heat of the Compulsory round before recording a second 10 in the third heat of the Pyramid event.
Flying to the Top
In the season opener, senior top Taylor Johnson secured the lone heat win in the Tumbling round. In the Aerial Pass, Johnson outscored Baylor with a 9.88.
Leaders of the Pack
For the 2015-16 season, head coach Mary Ann Powers has announced the selection of three seniors, Demitra Germanakos (Massapequa, N.Y.), Taylor Johnson (Foxboro, Mass.) and Kayla McCormack (Hanson, Mass.) as tri-captains.
Best of the Best
Two Bobcats were named to the 2015 NCATA All-American Team; Brooke Artz (Whitman, Mass.) and Taylor Johnson (Foxboro, Mass.). Artz earned her second consecutive honor while Johnson was recognized as an All-American for the first time in her career. Both athletes will compete as seniors this season.

Up next, the Bobcats will come back to Hamden to host Gannon University. On Sunday, Feb. 28, the Bobcats will welcome the Golden Knights for an 11 a.m. showdown from the TD Bank Sports Center.
2015 in Review
Quinnipiac began the 2015 season with a tri-meet at Baylor University. The Bobcats fell to the Bears but easily defeated Concordia University. QU dropped to 1-2 on the year after dropping their home opener to Oregon. A week later, the Bobcats split a tri-meet at the TD Bank Sports Center. Quinnipiac took down Alderson Broaddus, but ultimately fell to Hawaii Pacific by less than a point. The Bobcats then went on a three-meet winning streak heading into the NCATA National Championships, defeating Alderson Broaddus, King University and Gannon in the process. The Bobcats saw their season come to an end in the quarterfinals, falling to Azusa Pacific, 279.705-277.525. For the individual events, QU took home the Open heat of the Toss event for the first time in program history. Quinnipiac rounded out the season with a 5-4 overall record.
NCATA Collegiate Membership
Quinnipiac begins its sixth full season as a member of the NCATA. In addition to Quinnipiac the league consists of 11 other schools, including Adrian College, Alderson-Broaddus University, Azusa Pacific, Baylor, Concordia University-Wisc., Fairmont State, Gannon University, Glenville State, Hawaii Pacific, King University and the University of Oregon.
About Acrobatics & Tumbling
The acrobatics & tumbling format revolves around a two-to-four team competitive meet. Within one meet are six events: Compulsory, Acrobatics, Pyramid, Toss, Tumble, and Team Event. Everything is competed in a head to head format, alternating from one team to the next. Scores will be displayed in real-time in order to inform both the teams and spectators as to which side is ahead. All skills have a pre-determined difficulty value and are scored solely on execution during the meet.
