
QU Women's Tennis Edged by Binghamton, 4-3

NORTH HAVEN, Connecticut – The Quinnipiac women's tennis team played a highly contested match with the Binghamton Bearcats Saturday night as they fell, 4-3, at the North Haven Health and Racquet Club.
Quinnipiac falls to 4-2 (2-0 MAAC) with the loss while Binghamton (3-3, 0-0 AE) improves to .500 on the season.
Sophia Dzulynsky (Miramar, Florida) and Sitilia Rencheli (Sarasota, Florida) each picked up two victories to lead the Bobcats in wins. With a pair of wins, Dzulynsky crossed the 90-win mark with 91 wins in her career. Jennifer Lu (Cypress, California) also picked up a win for the Bobcats, her 15th win of the season.
The Bearcats took the advantage in the much by winning the battle in doubles, winning two of the three matches. Binghamton's No. 2 doubles team of Agatha Ambrozy and Olga Ostrovetsky paired up to narrowly defeat Lu and Sydney Young (Austin, Texas), 6-4. Quinnipiac evened the score after a long matchup at No. 3 doubles where Dzulynsky and Rencheli picked up the big doubles win over Annie DiMuro and Sara Kohtz, 7-6 (8), in a lengthy battle. The Bearcats' Shea Brodsky and Alexis Tashiro barely squeaked past the Bobcats' top team of Rachel Horton (Stamford, Connecticut) and Proyfon Lohaphaisan (Santa Clarita, California), 7-6 (9).
After picking up a doubles win, Dzulynsky matched her performance at No. 1 singles with her 91st career victory as she beat Kohtz in three set, 4-6, 7-5, 11-9. Lu picked up her second singles win of the spring after going to three sets against Ambrozy, 7-6 (4), 2-6, 10-2. Rencheli slotted into No. 4 singles for the Bobcats and cruised past Brodsky for a straight set victory, 6-3, 6-1.
Binghamton managed to pull off the victory with three wins in singles. DiMuro took her No. 2 singles match against Horton in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. At No. 5 singles, Ostrovetsky knocked off Alexandra Mircea (Glen Rock, New Jersey) in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. Tashiro managed to just managed to pull off the win over Young at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-3.
Quinnipiac women's tennis returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 21 when they travel to New Providence, New Jersey to take on the Seton Hall Pirates at the Murray Hill Tennis and Fitness Center at 12 P.M.
