Lancaster, MacKenzie Lead No. 8/8 QU Women's Ice Hockey Past Dartmouth

HANOVER, New Hampshire - No. 8/8 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey grabbed its third conference win of the 2016-17 season on Friday, Nov. 11 at Thompson Arena, topping Dartmouth 2-1. Kate MacKenzie (Winnipeg, Manitoba) netted her first collegiate goal - the game-winner - with just 6:35 left in the third period.
The Bobcats improve to 8-4-1 (3-2-0 ECAC) in 2016-17 with the win, while Dartmouth falls to 0-5-0 (0-4-0 ECAC).
Kenzie Lancaster (Waxhaw, North Carolina) chipped in with Quinnipiac's other goal, her third in the last five games. Sydney Rossman (Excelsior, Minnesota) made 15 saves in net, grabbing her eighth victory of the year.
Quinnipiac dominated the first period, outshooting Dartmouth 15-4. Melissa Samoskevich (Sandy Hook, CT) had a good chance to break the tie in the final moments of the period, playing a puck off the boards to herself while skating past a Dartmouth defender up the left side of the ice. Her shot toward net with just over 30 seconds left in the period was stopped by Big Green goaltender Robyn Chemago - who made 15 saves in the period to keep things scoreless.
The Bobcats' 15 shots in the first period is tied for a season-best in 20 minutes of action. Quinnipiac recorded 15 shots in the second period against UConn on Oct. 7, then 15 shots again in the second period vs. Yale on Oct. 28.

Dartmouth got on the board with just over seven minutes left in the third, tying the game 1-1. Eleni Tebano netted the power-play score for the Big Green.
MacKenzie helped Quinnipiac grab the lead again just moments later. Meghan Turner (Bedford, New Hampshire) gathered the puck behind Dartmouth's net, then delivered a pass to Kenzie Prater (Hudson, Wisconsin). Prater found MacKenzie out in front of the net, who blasted one home to give the Bobcats' a 2-1 lead.
The Bobcats registered 33 total shots on net, just two short of their season-high.
Quinnipiac is back in action tomorrow, Nov. 12, squaring off with Harvard from Boston at 3 p.m.
