No. 4/4 QU Women's Ice Hockey Ties Progam Record Unbeaten Streak at 16 Games with 3-2 Win Over Robert Morris

HAMDEN, Connecticut – Nationally-ranked No. 4/4 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey tied its program record unbeaten streak of 16 games with a 3-2 win Friday evening against the Robert Morris Colonials at High Point Solutions Arena.
The Bobcats tied their program record which they set last season with a 16 game unbeaten streak from Oct. 3, 2014 to Dec. 4, 2014. Quinnipiac improved to 18-1-4 (10-1-3 ECAC Hockey) with the victory while Robert Morris fell to 12-7-4 (4-3-3 CHA) with the loss.
Taylar Cianfarano (Oswego, New York) led the Bobcats with her team-leading 13th multiple-point game this season after racking up a pair of assists for her 15th and 16th helpers of the year. Cianfarano currently leads ECAC Hockey in multiple-point games this season and is tied for second in the country. Her 35 points on the season are tied with Clarkson's Cayley Mercer for the most in ECAC Hockey while her 16 assists are tied for third.
Nicole Kosta (Mississauga, Ontario) scored her ninth goal of the season and picked up her 16th point in the process with her first period tally. Lindsey West (Ajax, Ontario) netted her fourth goal of the season and second on the power play to tie her single-season career high for goals. Meghan Turner (Bedford, New Hampshire) was credited with the game-winning goal for the Bobcats on her sixth tally of the season, setting a new single-season career-high for goals.
In addition to Cianfarano, three other Bobcats picked up assists in the win, highlighted by Melissa Samoskevich's (Sandy Hook, Connecticut) 14th assist of the season. Samoskevich now has 24 points on the season, fifth in the country and second among rookies. Nicole Connery (Newmarket, Ontario) also picked up her 14th assist of the season as she inches closer to the 100 career point mark with her 86th career point. Nicole Brown (Oshawa, Ontario) tallied her ninth assist of the season.
Sydney Rossman (Excelsior, Minnesota) recorded 20 saves on 22 shots Friday night to pick up her 18th victory of the season. Rossman allowed two goals, including a late extra attacker goal, the first time the Bobcats have allowed more than a goal in a game since Nov. 14.
Kosta put the Bobcats up 1-0 with 4:51 to play in the first period and the team didn't look back. Cianfarano stole the puck along the right boards in the offensive zone and skating the puck into the right face-off circle before zipping a pass to Kosta along the end line. Kosta then skated towards Robert Morris goaltender Jessica Dodds and backhanded a shot off her right leg and through the five-hole for a goal.
West doubled the Bobcats lead with their first power play goal of the game coming just 1:43 into the second period to make it 2-0. Cianfarano passed the puck to Samoskevich on the right wing where she skated the puck to the right point before passing the puck right down to Cianfarano along the end line. Cianfarano fired a pass through the slot to West sneaking down the back door. After taking a second to control the puck, West roofed a backhanded shot past Dodds glove hand.
Quinnipiac took a 3-0 lead with 7:15 to play in the second period on their second power play goal of the game, this time coming from Turner. Brown hit Connery with a pass where she shot the puck just inside the right face-off. The shot was blocked by a Robert Morris defenseman and popped up in the slot. Turner collected the rebound and just barely got a shot off the trickled through the crease past Dodds.
The Colonials got a goal back in the third period on Natalie Fraser's third of the season. Brittany Howard received a pass from Amber Rennie in the neutral zone and skated with speed into the offensive end. Howard's initial shot was saved by Fraser and as she chased down the rebound, was taken down and the loose puck slid to Fraser backhanded the puck past Rossman's glove side through traffic.
Rikki Meilleur brought Robert Morris within a goal at 3-2 as the Colonials added an extra attacker goal with 7.8 seconds left in the game. Maggie Lague fired a shot from the point where it was knocked down with traffic in front of the goal. Rennie managed to get a stick on the puck and knock it towards Meilleur who managed to swipe the puck past a diving Rossman.
Quinnipiac and Robert Morris will return to the ice on Saturday for the final game of the weekend series at High Point Solutions Arena with puck drop set for 2 P.M.
