
QU Women's Tennis Edged by Fordham, 4-3

NORTH HAVEN, Conn. – Seniors Jacqueline Raynor (Garden City, N.Y.) and Michelle Dassa (Marlboro, N.J.) tacked on two wins to their career totals on Wednesday afternoon, but the Quinnipiac women's tennis team fell one point short in a non-conference match with Fordham. The Rams defeated the Bobcats, 4-3, at the North Haven Health and Racquet Club.
As per usual, Quinnipiac (7-7, 3-0 MAAC) picked up a 1-0 advantage after claiming the doubles point. Raynor and Dassa topped Elliesa Ball and Sarah Ali, 8-5, at No. 1; and Sydney Young (Austin, Texas) and Rachel Horton (Stamford, Conn.) cruised past Bella Genkina and Anika Novacek, 8-2, at No. 2. Sophia Dzulynsky (Miramar, Fla.) and Sitilia Rencheli (Sarasota, Fla.) fell short in a tie-break, 8-7 (4), at No. 3.
Raynor scored Quinnipiac's second point of the match, defeating Ball for a second time on the afternoon at No. 2 singles. She claimed a 6-1, 6-3 victory – notching her 155th career win at Quinnipiac. Her fellow classmate Dassa took care of business at No. 5 singles, knocking off Genkina in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
However, the Atlantic 10 foe collected wins at No. 1, 3, 4 and 6 singles to claim the road victory. Dzulynsky won the first set, 6-2, before dropping the second set, 6-4, and the tie-break, 10-2. Fordham improved to 9-5 overall with the win.

The Bobcats will play two of their final three home matches of the season this weekend when they welcome MAAC opponents Rider and Siena on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 1 P.M., with Senior Day festivities on Sunday beginning at 12:30 P.M. to honor Raynor, Dassa and Ariana Launie (Milton, Mass.).
