QU Women's Ice Hockey Moves Up To No. 4 in USCHO.com Poll

HAMDEN, Connecticut – The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team has moved up in the polls once again to their highest ranking of the season at No. 4 in the USCHO.com Division I Women's Poll, as released on Monday, Nov. 30, 2015.
The Bobcats moved up one spot from No. 5 last week and received 98 points in the poll, their most points received in the poll all season long. At No. 4, it is the Bobcats highest ranking since the poll on Jan. 19, 2015 when the Bobcats were ranked No. 3 in the country. Last season, Quinnipiac was ranked within the top four in five weeks, including three straight from Nov. 17 through Dec. 1.
Quinnipiac is one of two schools in the country to have its men's and women's ice hockey teams ranked in the top four of the USCHO.com Poll, with the men's ice hockey team's No. 3 ranking and the women's ice hockey team ranked No. 4 in the women's poll. Boston College is the only other school to achieve the feat as their men's and women's teams are each ranked No. 2.
The Bobcats recorded back-to-back shutouts for the second consecutive weekend en route to their third straight Nutmeg Classic Championship, and sixth overall in the 12 year history of the tournament. Sydney Rossman was named the Most Valuable Goaltender of the Tournament and Taylar Cianfarano (Oswego, New York) was named the Most Valuable Player. Lindsey West (Ajax, Ontario) was also named to the all-tournament team.
Rossman picked up her fourth consecutive shutout to tie the program record for most consecutive shutouts. Her shutout streak of 263:47 is the second longest in program history, trailing Chelsea Laden's program record of 267:33 by just 3:46. Rossman now has six shutouts this season and eight in her career, with both figures ranking third in program history. Rossman recorded 31 saves over the weekend in the pair of shutouts.
Cianfarano tallied her third three point game of the season and fifth of her career with one goal and two assists in the championship game. Cianfarano netted the game-winner before assisting the final two goals of the game. With 15 goals, Cianfarano leads the conference in goals score and goals per game (1.00) while her points per game (1.53) is also first and her points (23) rank second in the conference.
Nicole Connery (Newmarket, Ontario) extended her point streak to four games with a goal in the Nutmeg Classic championship game and an assist in the first round game. Nicole Kosta (Mississauga, Ontario) and Melissa Samoskevich (Sandy Hook, Connecticut) both scored in the tournament for the Bobcats.
Quinnipiac is the highest ranked ECAC Hockey team for the second straight week with Clarkson right behind them at No. 5 and Harvard checking in at No. 7 in the poll. Colgate, Princeton and St. Lawrence all received votes to give ECAC Hockey the most teams in the poll that are either ranked or receiving votes.
The No. 4 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team returns home to High Point Solutions Arena for the first time since Nov. 13 where they will host the Dartmouth Big Green on Friday, Dec. 4 at 7 P.M. before the No. 7 Harvard Crimson come to Hamden on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 4 P.M. Following the Bobcats' game against the Crimson, the team will host their second post-game "Skate with the Bobcats" of the season, where fans are invited to join the team on the ice to skate, take pictures and get autographs from the players.
