No. 2/3 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey was named the College Hockey News Team of the Week on Wednesday, Nov. 18. The Bobcats have opened the 2015-16 season with its best start in program history while its 11-game winning streak is also a program record. This past weekend, Quinnipiac handily defeated No. 6/7 Harvard, 4-1, at the TD Bank Sports Center before dispatching Dartmouth, 6-2. On Tuesday, Nov. 17 Quinnipiac won its third game in five days, overcoming a 2-0 deficit to roll over UConn, 6-2.
Quinnipiac has scored six goals in back-to-back games and have recorded five games of five or more goals through the first 11 games of the season. Last season, the Bobcats recorded just four games of five or more goals in the entire season. Quinnipiac's 4.64 goals-per-game rank first among all NCAA Division I schools while its 1.73 goals-against average ranks sixth, for a 2.91 scoring margin, second only to Boston College.Quinnipiac also features the nation's top power play unit that is currently 19-for-55 for 34.5%, while also posting one short-handed goal.
Individually, Quinnipiac's Sam Anas (Potomac, Maryland) and Travis St. Denis (Trail, British Columbia) rank in the Top 10 in goals per game (0.73) while St. Denis has scored a NCAA-leading five power play goals. Anas has scored five goals in his last five games while St. Denis has a team-leading seven-game point streak. Tim Clifton (Matawan, New Jersey) has scored in every game he's suited up for this year for a seven-game goal scoring streak. Freshman Chase Priskie (Pembroke Pines, Florida) has six assists in his last four games and leads the team with 11 assists to date.
In goal, Michael Garteig (Prince George, British Columbia) is 11-0-0 (1st-NCAA) with a 1.75 goals-against average (7) and a .931 save percentage (12th).
Quinnipiac returns to action this weekend with a pair of ECAC Hockey match-ups when it hosts No. 20 Clarkson on Friday, Nov. 20 and No. 14 St. Lawrence on Saturday, Nov. 21.
