
QU Men's Tennis Begins Play at ITA Regionals on Thursday

RECORD SETTING ACCOMPLISHMENT
The Quinnipiac men's tennis team is sending a program record five players to the ITA Regionals hosted by Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. Luke Roser (Bernardsville, New Jersey) and Freddie Zaretsky (Fair Lawn, New Jersey will represent the Bobcats in doubles play while Kei Ezaka (Ojai, California) and Zaretsky were selected for main draw singles. Jonas Kuwert (Jesteberg, Germany), Julian Rozenstein (Marlboro, New Jersey) and Willem van Biezen (Warmond, The Netherlands) were all selected to the qualifying round for singles.
ITA's SCHEDULE
Singles qualifying action for the ITA's this weekend are set to begin on Thursday, Oct. 22 where players will have to win two matches in order to qualify for the main draw. Doubles action will begin on Friday, Oct. 23 at 8 A.M. while singles main draw will begin shortly after at 10:30 A.M.
LAST WEEKEND RECAP
The Bobcats continued their dominant start to the 2015-16 season as they blanked both Hartford and Saint Peter's, 7-0, to improve to 4-0 (2-0 MAAC) on the season. The Bobcats did not drop a single point between both matches and only lost two individual matches over the two day span.
KICK THE DUST UP
Roser is having a stellar start to his senior season, posting an overall record of 22-5 in the fall for his best start to a season in his career. He has gone an impressive 14-1 in doubles matches this season, already setting a new career-high in doubles wins for a career. Among his accomplishments, Roser has improved his overall record to 96-95, bringing him just four wins shy of becoming just the sixth player in program history to record 100 wins in a career. Roser will open up ITA play in doubles with Zaretsky against Binghamton's Sid Hazarika and Frenk Kote on Friday morning.
BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY
Roser's doubles partner, Zaretsky, is also having a fine season as well in his first semester in Hamden, Connecticut. Zaretsky has kept pace with many of the veterans on the team for wins, going 19-3 with a 10-1 mark in doubles and 9-2 record in singles play. Zaretsky is tied for second on the team with his 10 doubles wins and ranks fourth with nine wins in singles. The freshman has made an immediate impact, jumping into the No. 2 singles spot in the Bobcats' lineup. Along with his doubles match on Friday, Zaretsky will face Princeton's Luke Gamble in the first round of main draw singles action.
SONGS IN THE "KEI" OF LIFE
Ezaka is having a strong end of the fall season for the Bobcats, having won the last seven singles matches he has played as well as four straight doubles matches since doubles play began earlier in October. Overall, Ezaka is 14-11 with eight wins in singles play and six in doubles as he remains the No. 1 singles play in the lineup. Ezaka's opponent is still to be determined, as he will face one of the qualifiers from Thursday's matches.
CHECK YES, JULIAN
Rozenstein has been one of the winningest Bobcats since the beginning of his freshman season in 2014-15, compiling 50 wins overall and has not let up during his sophomore campaign. Rozenstein is currently 16-7 with 10 singles wins and six doubles wins under his belt. He has won 30 singles matches in his career and 20 in doubles. At the ITA's, Rozenstein drew Army West Point's Austin McCasin in the first round of qualifying matches on Thursday.
GREEN GOBLIN
Another standout sophomore on the roster, van Biezen is tied for the team lead with 22 wins this fall after tying his single-season career high of 13 singles wins while adding nine wins in doubles play. This season, van Biezen's 13 singles wins are as many as he won in all of his freshman season in 2014-15. Overall, van Biezen is 51-19 in his career at Quinnipiac. On Thursday, van Biezen will face Boston University's Jay Leelavanich in the first round of qualifying matches.
JONAS BROTHERS
Despite limited playing time this fall, Kuwert still managed to pick up six wins on his way to a 6-4 record overall. Kuwert has been solid since transferring to Quinnipiac prior to his junior season, winning 37 matches through a season and a half after a 31-28 record last year on his way to being named the team MVP. Kuwert has won 72 matches in his career, including 35 wins at Old Dominion in his freshman and sophomore seasons. Kuwert will face Army West Point's Caison Best in Thursday's qualifying match.
SPRING AHEAD
