QU Women's Golf Finishes 7th out of 13 At Brown Bear Invitational; Scola Finishes Tied For 13th out of 72

"I'm very happy with placing today, it was very difficult with 35 mile-per-hour wind – it was the windiest day I've ever seen golf played in," head coach John O'Connor. "Wind and a very difficult course produced a tough challenge. It created for tough putting and very difficult situations, but the team handled it well.
Quinnipiac placed three players in the top 27 out of the 72 student-athletes in the field, headling by Scola's 13th place finish. Jenn Whaley (Farmington, Conn.) improved on her first day score (87) by six strokes on Monday, carding an 81 for a two-day total of 168, good for a tie of 22nd place. Freshman Emily Ribbins (Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands) shot a 91 on Monday, combined with her 78 from the first day of the tournament gave her a 169 for a tie of 27th place.
"Beating Siena – which is the best team in the MAAC – as well as Hartford and Albany is a very encouraging sign," O'Connor said. "I'm very proud of the team, and I hope to build on it as we prepare for the conference tournament."
Harvard won the event with a combined 628, followed by Boston University at 648, Fairleigh Dickinson at 658 and Brown (659), LIU Brooklyn (666) and Dartmouth (677) slotting in in-front of the Bobcats at 679. The Bobcats finished three strokes better than Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference rivals Siena (682) , Albany (697) and Hartford (704).
Quinnipiac is back in action on Friday, Apr. 18 when it travels to Tenafly, N.J. to compete in the one-day, 36-hole Columbia Invitational at the Knickerbocker Country Club.
