A distinguished individual with nearly 20 years of experience within the sports of lacrosse, Jill Boffa enters her fifth season as a volunteer assistant coach for the Quinnipiac women’s lacrosse program.
In her first season at Quinnipiac, Boffa helped lead the Bobcats to a four-win 2017 season and the program's first-ever appearance in the MAAC Tournament. The Bobcats continued to improve with five wins in 2018.
Armed with experience at many levels within the sport, Boffa is a former three-time Coach of the Year at three different NCAA programs. Her most-recent coaching experience came as the second assistant coach for the Yale Bulldogs in the 2013 season.
Over the last decade, Boffa spent four-plus years as a local 2 official within the Connecticut Women’s Lacrosse Official Association. She officiated girls’ varsity and junior varsity high school lacrosse games within the state in that span.
Her most-recent head coaching position came over 10 years ago as she led Kenyon College in the 2006 and 2007 seasons. The 2007 campaign was a highly successful one for Boffa as she led Kenyon to the semifinals of the North Coast Athletic Conference while being named the 2007 NCAC Coach of the Year.
Including her stints at Yale and Kenyon, Boffa has coached at seven different colleges and universities including Oberlin College (2004-05) as an assistant soccer coach, Manhattan College as the head women’s lacrosse coach (2003-04), Colby-Sawyer College (1998-03) as the head women’s soccer and lacrosse coach, American International College (1998) as the interim head coach and Davidson College as a volunteer assistant (1996).
In her brief one-year stay at Manhattan, she excelled in leading the Jaspers to the 2004 MAAC Championship while setting a program record for most wins in a single-season (11). Named the 2004 MAAC Coach of the Year, Boffa helped Manhattan advance to the NCAA Tournament Play-In Game where they faced Mount St. Mary’s at home.
Boffa’s first extended head coach experience came at Colby-Sawyer College in New Hampshire as she served as head coach for both women’s soccer and women’s lacrosse for six seasons. Both her teams advanced to the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament three straight seasons (2001-03) before her departure for Manhattan. She helped lift the program to a single-season wins record in 2003 and a runner-up finish in the league. Boffa was named the 2003 CCC Coach of the Year.
As a player, Boffa played for Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio and was named an Honorable Mention Brine Lacrosse All-Regional Team performer in 1993. She was a two-sport athlete at Wittenberg, earning Most Improved Soccer Player honors in 1989.
A graduate of Wittenberg University in 1993, Boffa received her Bachelor of Arts degree in history. She continued her education at Springfield College in Massachusetts where she earned her Master of Education in physical education in 1998 with a concentration in athletics administration.
