Cydney Roesler ’16 was named the Director of Player Development and Operations for the Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey program in August of 2023.
Roesler returns to Bobcat Nation after completing a three-year stint with the Connecticut Whale of the Premier Hockey Federation as a defender. She posted nine points over 34 career games with the Whale.
During her professional playing career, Roesler picked up valuable coaching experience, most recently as an assistant coach for the Whale. She was involved in all aspects of the team, including coaching on-ice practices and developing game notes each week. Shortly after graduating from Quinnipiac, she served as the volunteer assistant coach with the Bobcats for two years where she assisted and led on-ice drills, recorded and tracked statistics and worked alongside the director of women’s ice hockey operations in planning and organizing team events, meals, road trips and hotel visits.
Roesler competed on the international stage, representing Team Canada on two occasions. She won gold at the 2012 Women’s Under-18 World Championship and silver at the 2011 Women’s Under-18 World Championship.
Roesler had a decorated four-year playing career for the women’s ice hockey program. She was named an assistant captain during her junior year before being named the 14th captain in program history prior to the start of her senior campaign. Roesler helped the Bobcats to their first ever ECAC Hockey championship title in 2016, with an assist on the game-winning goal in the 1-0 victory over Clarkson. She became the 20th player and fourth defender to score 50 career points with the Bobcats.
She received a bachelor’s degree in communication and media studies with a minor in sports studies from Quinnipiac in 2016. Roesler is married to Bobcat hockey alum Chase Priskie.
