Shawn Roche enters his sixth season with Quinnipiac men's ice hockey in 2023-24 after he was hired in September 2018 as the director of hockey operations.
Throughout his time at Quinnipiac, the team has gone 157-50-16 for a .740 winning percentage. Roche has provided extensive video breakdown and analysis of all games and practices during his time with the Bobcats.
Quinnipiac has been a perennial national contender throughout his tenure, winning the ECAC's Regular Season Championship four straight years and advancing to the NCAA Regional Finals in four of the last five seasons, highlighted by the Bobcats' 2023 National Championship win over Minnesota.
In 2020-21, the Bobcats won their second Cleary Cup as ECAC Hockey Regular Season Champions in the last three seasons and made the NCAA Tournament for the second time in his time at Quinnipiac.
During his first season with the team, the Bobcats won a share of the Cleary Cup and returned to the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time in program history, picking up a first round win over Arizona State to advance to the Midwest Regional Final.
Roche came to Quinnipiac after spending the past two seasons as a video coordinator and assistant video coach with the NHL's New York Rangers. Among his duties, Roche was responsible for video breakdown of opponent film pre-scout as well as game and practice filming, to make video available for coaches and players.
Roche also planned, oversaw and coordinated the filming of all team practices and games. In addition to his video duties, Roche worked with the New York Rangers' management to develop and oversee analytics, as well as develop statistics to track and work with various programs.
Prior to his stint with the Rangers, Roche spent two seasons as a video coordinator and video coach with the Rangers' AHL Affiliate Hartford Wolf Pack. While with the Wolf Pack, Roche had the same role he held with the Rangers.
He is no stranger to college hockey as Roche as the video coordinator and video coach for Canisius College for two seasons from 2012-14 where he was responsible for breaking down opponent film to create the pre-scout for coaches and players. Just like with the Wolf Pack, Roche planned, oversaw and coordinate the filming of all practices and games.
Before becoming a video coach in hockey, Roche served as a video coordinator for the University of Toledo football team in the 2011-12 school year after a year responsible for the offensive quality control in 2010-11. He also spent the summer of 2011 as a football operations training camp intern with the Buffalo Bills.
While an undergrad at Bowling Green, Roche spent time as a student assistant coach and a video intern.
Roche graduated from Bowling Green State University in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in Education Sport Enterprise Management and he received a master's degree in Adult Education/Training from the University of Phoenix in 2013.
