Trey Stover
- Title:
- Baseball Volunteer Assistant Coach
Trey Stover joined the Quinnipiac baseball program during the fall of 2017 as a volunteer assistant coach. He will be working primarily with the infielders.
Prior to joining Quinnipiac's coaching staff, Stover was drafted in the 35th round of the 2015 MLB First Year Player Draft by the Kansas City Royals. He would play in the Appalachian League for the Burlington Royals in Rookie Ball. Stover would continue his professional baseball career in Germany as the starting shortstop for the Mainz Athletics. The Athletics would win their second championship, Deutschmeister, with Stover patrolling the middle infield.
Following the 2016 season in Germany, Stover would travel to Australia to play in the Canberra Club ball league, where he would play from October 2016 to May 2017. He batted .348 in the leadoff spot for the Ainsle Bears as the starting shortstop, and helped lead the team to the semifinals.
Stover played his college ball at the University of Hartford, where he was a four-year starting shortstop prior to graduating in 2015. He was selected to the All-Conference tournament team as a senior when the Hawks were competing for an American East Championship.
Stover is no stranger to coaching, as he coached in both Australia and Germany when he was playing there. In Australia, he coached the 15u and 17u Ainsle Bears club teams and both won their Premierships. In Germany, he coached the Youth (12-15) and Juniors (15-18), as well a softball team. Under Stover's guidance, the club won both baseball championships in the same year for the first time.
Prior to that, Stover had been a volunteer assistant coach at his old high school, Central Mountain High School. He has also worked as a winter instructor for Flood City Elite baseball teams out of ERA Sports Inc. and coached at Bill Brown Baseball camps at George Mason University.
Stover graduated from the University of Hartford in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in communications.
