Bobcats Split Sunday Doubleheader at Rider

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The Quinnipiac softball team split Sunday's doubleheader at Rider, earning a 13-0 run-rule victory in game one before falling 8-1 in the series finale.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One
Quinnipiac struck first and never looked back, dominating offensively to secure a 13-0 run-rule win.
The Bobcats opened the scoring in the second inning. Riley Potter recorded a lead-off hit by pitch before back-to-back singles by Natalia Apatiga and Kinsley Cox loaded the bases. RBI sacrifice flies from Aryn Bombery and Mary Fogg, along with a walk and hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded, gave Quinnipiac a 4-0 lead.
Quinnipiac kept rolling once again in the third with a seven-run inning. Noelle Reid and Potter highlighted the frame with two-run doubles each, while Sofia Vega and Kennedy Demott added RBI singles.
The Bobcats added two more in the fourth on an RBI single from Ally Hochstadter and a bases-loaded walk by Natalia Apatiga.
Shannon Kendall and Laney Adie combined for a five-inning shutout, allowing just two hits while striking out five.
Game Two
Rider took control early in the series finale, scoring five runs in the first inning.
Quinnipiac got on the board in the second when Kinsley Cox delivered an RBI double, but the Broncs answered with three more runs between the second and sixth to maintain their lead.
Laney Adie provided strong relief, tossing 4.2 innings, allowing just one run and recording two strikeouts.
The Bobcats recorded seven hits in the game, but were unable to mount a comeback.
Quinnipiac moves to 11-3 in MAAC play.
