Baseball Drops Game Two to ETSU

Johnson City, Tenn. – The Quinnipiac Bobcats dropped a hard-fought game to the ETSU Buccaneers, 4-3, in ten innings on Saturday afternoon in Johnson City. With the loss, the Bobcats fell to 2-6 overall early into the 2026 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bobcats and Buccaneers were locked into a scoreless battle through the first four innings. Quinnipiac and Peyton Vancas broke the scoreless tie with a two-run single in the top of the fifth inning.
Alex Irizarry made it a three-run game as he singled home Caden Williamson to give the Bobcats a 3-0 lead.
ETSU was held off the scoreboard until the eighth inning, when they put up a three-spot to tie the game at three.
A scoreless ninth inning forced the game to go into extra innings, and after the Bobcats didn't score in the top of the tenth, the Buccaneers walked off the Bobcats in the bottom half of the inning to take the second game of the series and earn the series victory.

- Sam Wright started on the mound and went 4.0 innings, allowing just two hits and striking out four, while not allowing an earned run.
