Midgame Run Powers Bobcats Past CCSU

HAMDEN, Conn. — The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team flew out of the gates on Friday night and was able to keep its distance, securing a 17-8 victory over Central Connecticut in Hamden.
It was a balanced attack, as the Bobcats saw goals from 11 different players, led by four from Cate Bendowski, who finished with a five-point day. She also had a pair of ground balls and three caused turnovers.
After a back and forth opening 20 minutes, Quinnipiac took control quickly turning a 4-3 lead into a 16-3 stronghold on the game. Emma Shanahan and Kendall Bennett recorded their first collegiate goals during the stretch that saw the hosts take control.
The Bobcat midfield was relentless, securing a 15-5 advantage in draws through the first three quarters and forcing 10 failed clears for Central, while Quinnipiac was 9-for-10 in transition.

Quinnipiac returns home for a pair of contests in Hamden next week, starting with Bryant coming to town on Wednesday afternoon.

- Quinnipiac posted season highs in points (22), goals (17), ground balls (23) and caused turnovers (19).
- Abby LoNigro recorded a collegiate-best four caused turnovers.
- Five Bobcats had multiple caused turnovers, with Bendowski adding three and Hannah West, Julia Givens and Sophia Coan all finishing with two.
- Coan also led all Bobcats with seven draw controls, her highest mark of the season.
- Bendowski has eight points in her last two games, totaling 11 on the year, the most on the team.
