Baseball Drops Series Opener at ETSU

Johnson City, Tenn. – The Quinnipiac Bobcats dropped the first game of the series to the East Tennessee State Buccaneers, 8-2, on Friday afternoon. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 2-5 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Jack Balcer got the Bobcats on the board in the opening inning as he doubled home Alex Irizarry with the game's first run.
Nick Balcom got a shutdown first inning on the mound, but the Buccaneers got on the board in the second inning, scoring two runs to take the lead. ETSU would make it a 3-1 game in the third inning as another run came home on a double to deep right field.
No runs were put on the board in the fourth, but East Tennessee struck for runs in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings to make it an 8-1 game.
In the top of the eighth, the Bobcats got one run back as Alex Irizarry hit his first home run of the season, making it 8-2.
That was all for the Bobcats as ETSU closed out the contest to earn the win in the series opener.
