Bobcats Drop Four-Set Match to Fairfield

Fairfield, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's volleyball team dropped to 1-1 in MAAC play as they fell to the Fairfield Stags in four sets on Saturday afternoon in Fairfield.
Fairfield registered the first two points of the match, but the Bobcats used a 9-0 run to come storming back. After Fairfield called their first timeout of the set, the Bobcats and Stags traded points, but QU was still in the lead 18-11. The Stags used their final timeout of the set, but another run from the Bobcats gave Quinnipiac the 1-0 advantage.
The Stags started the second set on a 7-0 run and went up 9-2 before Quinnipiac called their first timeout of the second set. The Bobcats came out of their timeout and went on an 11-7 run to force the Stags to use their first timeout. Fairfield went up 20-16 before Kyle Robinson called his final timeout of the set. The Stags would close out the second set on a 5-3 run to even up the match.
The Bobcats started the third set with an 8-3 lead before the Stags got back in the match, holding a 15-13 lead at the media timeout. Quinnipiac would outscore the Stags 4-3 out of the break, as they took a timeout. The Stags closed out the third set on a 7-0 run to take the third set.
Fairfield started the fourth set where they left off, going on a 7-1 run to force the Bobcats to call a timeout. The Bobcats crept closer, making it an 18-13 set, forcing Fairfield to call a timeout of their own. Out of the break, the Stags used a 7-4 run to close out the match.

- Elena Giacomini led the Bobcats with 19 kills in the four-set loss. Giacomini also recorded 12 digs, one ace, and one block.
- Giacomini recorded her tenth double-double of the season and 29th of her career as a Bobcat.
- Giacomini has led the Bobcats in kills in twelve of fourteen matches so far this season.
- Elena Giacomini has recorded double-digit kills in all but four matches throughout her QU career.
- Yagmur Gunes reached double-digit kills, recording 15 in the loss. Gunes also added 15 digs for a double-double.
