
Cupo, Young Earn Weekly Awards

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac women's soccer senior forward Morgan Cupo was named the MAAC Jersey Mike's Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, and first-year forward Ava Young was named the MAAC Jersey Mike's Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday, September 22nd.
Morgan Cupo had her most dominant game of the season so far, scoring two goals in Quinnipiac's 5-1 win over Mount St. Mary's last Saturday in Hamden. Cupo got the scoring started for the Bobcats in the 12th minute with her second goal of the season and followed up with her second goal of the game in the 56th minute, making it a 4-0 lead at the time. The senior from New Jersey is now tied for the team lead in goals (3) and points (6).
First-year Ava Young recorded three collegiate firsts in Quinnipiac's win over the Mount. Young recorded her first collegiate assist and point on Klara Bengtsson's goal in the 42nd minute and later scored her first goal of her collegiate career in the 89th minute to make it a 5-1 game. In just her fifth collegiate game, Young has recorded three points, which is good for fifth-best on the team.
The Bobcats will be back in action on Wednesday, September 24th, as they host the Fairfield Stags with kickoff slated for 2:30 PM.
