Volleyball Closes Out Non-Conference Play With Loss to Presbyterian

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – The Quinnipiac women's volleyball team fell to Presbyterian College in five sets to close out their non-conference schedule on Sunday afternoon in Philadelphia.
The Bobcats started on the right foot and held a 14-10 lead as Presbyterian called their first timeout of the match. Out of the break, the Bobcats would score six of the next nine points, forcing the Blue Hose to call their final timeout of the set. A 4-1 run out of their own timeout, forcing QU to call a timeout as their lead shrank to four. The timeout worked in QU's favor as they rallied for the next four points to take the first set, 25-17.
Quinnipiac, once again, started on top of Presbyterian in the second set, taking a 12-10 lead as Presbyterian used their first timeout of the set. The Blue Hose came out of the break and went on a 5-4 scoring run to make it a one-point set, 16-15. After the Bobcats used a timeout of their own, Quinnipiac would close out the second set, 25-22, to go up 2-0 in the match.
The two sides traded points to start the third set, but the Bobcats held a 17-14 lead as Presbyterian called a timeout. The back-and-forth set continued as Quinnipiac used its first timeout of the third set, while having a 22-19 advantage. Out of the timeout, Presbyterian would get within one point before using their final timeout of the set. Presbyterian would finish the long set with a 7-4 run to win it 29-27.
Quinnipiac started the fourth set with another lead, 18-16, as Presbyterian was forced to use a timeout. The Blue Hose would go on a 6-3 scoring run to overtake the lead in the set, 22-21. After the Bobcats called their own timeout, the Blue Hose would close out the set on a 4-3 run to force a decisive fifth set.
For the first time in the match, Presbyterian jumped on the Bobcats first, leading 8-6 as QU called their first timeout of the final set. After QU evened the set at nine apiece, Presbyterian used a timeout of their own, which proved to be pivotal, as they closed out the set on a 6-2 run to steal the match from the Bobcats.

- Elena Giacomini led the Bobcats with 23 kills in the five-set loss. Giacomini also recorded 13 digs, two service aces, two assists, and one total block.
- Giacomini recorded her eighth double-double of the season and 27th of her career as a Bobcat.
- Giacomini has led the Bobcats in kills in eleven of the twelve matches so far this season.
- Yagmur Gunes and Leilani-kai Giusta reached double-digit kills, both recording 15 in the loss.
- Gunes and Giusta also recorded double-digit digs as they both recorded a double-double.
- Yagmur Gunes picked up her sixth double-double of the season, and Leilani-kai Giusta recorded her second one of the year.
- Damla Gunes led the team with 55 assists, and five other Bobcats recorded at least one assist.
- Carola Negron Diaz led the team with 20 digs, her season high and second-highest output of her career.
- Asia Belli recorded a season-high five service aces in the effort. Belli accounted for five of the team's nine aces in the match.
- Six different Bobcats recorded at least one kill in the loss.
- Presbyterian recorded 15.0 total blocks, while the Bobcats recorded 5.0 total blocks.
