BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac softball team fell in game one of their doubleheader with Canisius before game two was ended for a curfew and is currently halted.

In game one, QU scored first on a sac fly by Natalia Apatiga in the first and then Ella McGalliard homered in the second to push the lead to three. Canisius would come back with five runs in the third to make it 5-3. Apatiga came back with a solo homer to cut into the lead but Canisius would add another in the sixth and win 6-4.

In game two, the Bobcats came back from three one run deficits to force extra innings. Those runs came on a single from Mary Fogg and solo homers from Riley Potter, and Kennedy Demott, who's homer in the seventh. Due to a facility curfew the game was halted at 3-3 after nine innings. It was finished in Hamden, on April 28. QU took the lead in the top of the 10th with an RBI single from Riley Potter, scoring Natalia Apaitga. Potter then scored to make it 5-3 after Madison Waltke brought her in with a triple.

STATS & NOTES
Game One

Natalia Apatiga's homerun was the 100th hit of her career.
Ella McGalliard had her first homer of the season and fourth of her career.
This is the second time this season QU has homered twice in game, the last was on Sunday against Niagara.
Apatiga had two RBIs to bring her team-leading total to 19.
Madison Waltke had her first career triple.

Game Two

QU had two homeruns in game two, and now has hit two homeruns in three of their last four games.
The Bobcats now have eight homeruns as a team this season, the most they've had in a single season since 2022.
Riley Potter had her first career homer.
Kennedy Demott tied Sofia Vega for the team-lead in homers.
Sydney Horan pitched 15 innings over the two games, striking out 12.

UP NEXT
QU will host Mount St. Mary's this weekend in Hamden, Conn. for a three-game series. Saturday will be a doubleheader with game one starting at 12:00 PM.
