Blue Point, N.Y., native is first MAAC freshman since 2015 to earn multiple major awards
EDISON, N.J. — First year goalie Shannon Alden earned four all-conference accolades to highlight six different Quinnipiac women's lacrosse student athletes getting recognized with a 2025 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference postseason honor, the league announced on Thursday afternoon.
It is the second time in the last three seasons that the Bobcats have boasted the Goalie and Rookie of the Year, with Kat Henselder and Mia Delmond earning the honors after the 2023 campaign. Alden is the first player to earn Rookie and another major award since 2015 when Canisius' Erica Evans won Midfielder and Rookie of the Year.
The Blue Point, N.Y. native earned the league's Goalie of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors, while also earning spots on the All-MAAC First Team and the All-MAAC Rookie Team. She enters the weekend leading the MAAC in saves per game (9.81), while sitting second in both total saves (157) and save percentage (.483) and is fourth in goals-against average (11.53). She's top 20 nationally in the first three categories as well.
Five other Bobcats earned all-conference accolades, with Emma Miller-Ayala and Anna Givens joining Alden on the rookie team and EllaGrace Delmond, Abby Wise and Caelan O'Connor all garnering second team all-conference honors.
Wise finished as one of the league's most prominent point-getters, finishing with 61 and averaging 3.81 per contest, both of which put her top three in the league. She leads the conference in assists, with a total of 33 and averaging 2.06 per outing. Her 30 assists and 61 points on the year put her sixth and seventh on the program leaderboard, respectively. She currently stands nine points from the program record held by Katie Latonick.
Delmond is putting an exclamation point on an outstanding offensive career with the Bobcats as she stands in the top 11 in program history in both career points and goals entering her final postseason. In the 2025 campaign, she is third in the conference in goals per game (3.07) and fourth in points per outing (3.73). She is also fifth in the league with 46 goals, a number that leads the team and has her second on the program leaderboard and seven from the single-game record.
O'Connor has been a standout defenseman and made her mark in her senior season, entering the weekend fifth in the league in caused turnovers per contest (1.53). She has had multiple memorable performances during the 2025 season, including blocking a shot with less than five seconds left to secure a win against UMass Lowell. She has set two career highs in ground balls and caused turnovers, finishing with 22 and 23 in the respective categories.
Miller-Ayala and Givens both earned spots on the All-Rookie Team after standout freshman campaigns in Hamden. Miller-Ayala was a do-it-all midfielder, recording six contests with a goal, ground ball, caused turnover and draw control and came within one of the program's single-game draw control record with eight against Canisius on April 16. Givens finished fifth on the team in goals and points potting 19 tallies and finishing with 26 points overall.
Quinnipiac's postseason journey begins on Friday, when they take on sixth-seeded Sacred Heart at Noon at host Siena. The winner will advance to Sunday's second round when they take on the hosts in Loudonville, N.Y.
