Quinnipiac Sweeps MAAC Women's Golf Major Awards

HAMDEN, Conn. – Sophia Fujita has been named the MAAC Player and Rookie of the Year after claiming the Individual Crown at the 2025 MAAC Women's Golf Championships at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Along with Fujita earning major awards, Head Coach John O'Connor was named the Coach of the Year after leading the Bobcats to their fourth MAAC title in five seasons and sixth MAAC title overall.
First-year Sophia Fujita earned both MAAC Player and Rookie of the Year honors after dominating the MAAC Championships to win her first collegiate tournament. Fujita finished the three-round tournament with a score of 217 (+1). On the tournament's first day, Fujita set a record with a 68 (-4) for the conference's lowest score in a single round on the women's side. After her outstanding first year in Hamden, Fujita was named to the All-MAAC First Team. The Torrance, California, native is the first Bobcat rookie to win the McLeod Trophy (MAAC Tournament MVP) since Alexandra Sazhin won it in 2017.
John O'Connor was named the MAAC Women's Golf Coach of the Year after leading the Bobcats to their first MAAC Championship since the 2023 season. O'Connor earned his fourth conference coach of the year award after leading the Bobcats to their sixth MAAC title.
The Quinnipiac Women's Golf team will compete in the 2025 NCAA Tournament and will find out their regional location on Wednesday, April 23rd at 1 PM during the Selection Show on the Golf Channel.
