Bobcats Earn #11 Seed for First Time in Program History
HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's golf team will head to the Ann Arbor Regional hosted by the University of Michigan, as announced on the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Selection Show on Wednesday afternoon. The Bobcats will head to Ann Arbor with three rounds being played from May 11-13, with a round being completed each day.
After winning its second-straight MAAC title this past weekend, head coach John O'Connor's squad will travel to the University of Michigan Golf Course as the #11 seed in the region. It marks the first time that the Bobcats have been selected as a #11 seed in a regional in program history.
Quinnipiac is coming off its second-straight MAAC Championship and fifth in seven years. The Bobcats finished the MAAC Championships with a three-round team score of 885 (+21), finishing two strokes shy of besting their 2025 MAAC Championship score. For the second season in a row, Sophia Fujita earned the McLeod Trophy, given to the individual champion. Fujita carded a tournament total of 212 (-4), setting a new MAAC Championships record, breaking Fuge Zhang's score of 214 (-2) from the 2023 MAAC Tournament. Fujita became the first women's golfer to win back-to-back McLeod Trophies since Katelyn Mannix (Siena) did it in 2008 and 2009.
After regionals, the tournament championship will begin on Friday, May 22, and continue through Wednesday, May 27, at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California. The players will complete 54 holes of stroke play, and then the top 15 teams, along with the top nine individuals not on an advancing team, will compete for one additional day of stroke play to determine the top eight teams for match play competition and the 72-hole stroke play individual champion. The top eight teams then compete in match play for the team national championship to be decided on May 27.
