Fujita Named Player of the Year for 2nd Straight Season

HAMDEN, Conn. – For the second straight season, Sophia Fujita was named the MAAC Player of the Year, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday, April 29th. Head Coach John O'Connor was also named the Coach of the Year for the second straight season and fifth overall.
At this year's MAAC Championship, Fujita became the first Bobcat to ever win the McLeod Trophy in back-to-back seasons. Fujita finished this year's tournament with a new MAAC Tournament record, recording a three-round total of 212 (-4). Fujita's best round of the tournament came on day two, as she shot a 69 (-3), setting herself up for her second McLeod Trophy in two years. In two seasons in Hamden, Fujita has been named to the All-MAAC First Team twice, All-Championship Team twice, won two McLeod Trophies, two Player of the Year Awards, one Rookie of the Year Award, and led the Bobcats to two NCAA Tournament appearances.
John O'Connor was named the MAAC Women's Golf Coach of the Year after leading the Bobcats to their second straight MAAC Championship and seventh overall. O'Connor earned his fifth conference coach of the year award after leading the Bobcats to their seventh MAAC title.
The Quinnipiac Women's Golf team will compete in the 2026 NCAA Tournament and will find out their regional location on Wednesday, April 29th, at 4 PM during the Selection Show on the Golf Channel.
