Quinnipiac Drops Series Finale to Rider

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The Quinnipiac baseball team fell to the Rider Broncs, 19-9, in the series finale on Sunday, March 16th at Sonny Pittaro Field in Lawrenceville, NJ.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bobcats got a quick start in this one, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. Christian Smith brought home the game's first two runs on a two-run single. James Marino made it a 3-0 game with an RBI single to right field. The Broncs responded with five runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead. Rider hit a grand slam with one out in the inning to give them a 5-3 lead.
Sean McCulloch brought the Bobcats within one as he brought home Johnny Knox on a sacrifice fly. Rider responded in the bottom half with two runs to give them a 7-4 lead.
Rider would go on to score four in the third, one in the fourth, and four in the fifth to take a commanding 16-4 lead into the final three innings. In the top of the sixth inning, Sean McCulloch drove in his second run of the game with an RBI single. The Broncs scored three more runs in the sixth to put them up by fourteen.
Quinnipiac would not go down without a fight in the seventh inning. Johnny Knox got the Bobcats going with two outs in the inning with an RBI single, bringing home James Marino. A wild pitch brought home another run for Quinnipiac. With the bases loaded and two outs, Kyle Garbowski and Sebastian Mueller both got hit by a pitch to bring the Bobcats within ten. However, the Broncs would get the final out to finish off the Bobcats in seven innings.
