SCORE
Morehead 22, Quinnipiac 21
HOW IT HAPPENED
Morehead got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning, scoring on a bases-loaded walk and bringing home two more runs on a single to make it 3-0.
Quinnipiac would respond in a big way in the top of the second inning, scoring all eight runs with two outs in the inning. Cole Constable got the scoring started with a bases-clearing triple to knot the game up at three. The Bobcats took a 4-3 lead as Sean McCulloch reached on an infield single and scored Constable. With the bases loaded, Sebastian Mueller drew a walk to bring home Quinnipiac's fifth run of the inning. Christian Smith capped off the eight-run inning with a three-run blast over the left-field fence. Morehead scored five in the bottom of the second inning to knot the game up at eight.
Quinnipiac put up another crooked number in the top of the third inning as they hung a six spot on the board. Kyle Garbowski started the scoring with a two-run single through the middle of the infield. Christian Smith followed up with his second three-run home run of the contest. Alex Irizarry followed Smith with a solo home run of his own to give the Bobcats a six-run lead. The hosts got four runs back on a grand slam in the bottom half of the third inning.
After the Bobcats tacked on two runs in the fourth inning, Morehead State put up a four spot to tie the game at 16. With the bases loaded in the fifth inning, Sebastian Mueller hit a grand slam to put the Bobcats back in front. However, the Eagles scored six unanswered runs to take a 22-20 lead into the final inning.
Sebastian Mueller left the building again in the ninth inning to make it a one-run game. But, the Morehead State bullpen shut the door to seal the wild 22-21 victory.
