Bobcats Sweep Red Foxes in Poughkeepsie

Poughkeepsie, New York – The Quinnipiac women's volleyball team closed out their weekend with a sweep over the Marist Red Foxes on Saturday evening in Poughkeepsie.
Quinnipiac jumped out to an early lead in the first set, as they forced the Red Foxes to use their first timeout of the set with the Bobcats leading 6-1. The two sides traded points for much of the first half out of the break, but QU still led 21-19 as the Red Foxes used their final timeout of the opening set. After Marist tied the first set at 22, the Bobcats called a timeout of their own. Out of the break, the Bobcats went on a 3-1 run to close out the first set with a 25-23 win.
The Bobcats opened the second set with a 9-4 scoring run, but the Red Foxes called a timeout to settle things down. Another run from the Bobcats (4-2) forced Marist to burn their final timeout of the second set. The Red Foxes outscored the Bobcats from their second timeout until the set ended, but it was not enough as Quinnipiac won the second set, 25-21.
Another quick start for the Bobcats forced Marist to call an early timeout with QU leading 6-2 in the third set. The two sides traded points, but Marist called their final timeout of the set with the Bobcats in the lead, 13-9. Quinnipiac closed out the match and the set with a 12-7 run to sweep the Red Foxes.

- Elena Giacomini led the Bobcats with nine kills in the three-set win over the Red Foxes.
- Yagmur Gunes was second on the team with eight kills. Gunes also recorded nine digs, which led the team.
- Milena Silva, Vittoria Tonelli, and Asia Belli each recorded seven kills in the sweep over Marist.
- Damla Gunes led the team with 32 assists, and three other Bobcats recorded at least one assist in the win.
- Damla Gunes led the Bobcats with 2.5 total blocks in the match.
- Elena Giacomini led QU with three service aces.. Three other Bobcats recorded at least one ace in the win.
- Six Bobcats recorded at least one kill in the win.
- Six Bobcats recorded at least one dig in the four-set victory.
