HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac Men's Basketball program and Head Coach Tom Pecora have announced the signing of forward Spence Wewe.
The 7-foot big man took a post graduate year at Toronto Terror Prep this past season. Wewe - who was born in Agbor, Nigeria and grew up in Bristol, England - will join the Bobcats for the upcoming 2024-25 campaign.
"We're excited to announce the signing of Spence Wewe," said Quinnipiac Head Coach Tom Pecora. "Spence will make an immediate impact on our program with his ability to rebound and protect the rim. We're looking forward to working with Spence and we can't wait to help him reach his full potential here at Quinnipiac."
Wewe averaged 11.9 points, 13.9 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game with Toronto Terror Prep during 2023-24. He set a new single-season program record for blocks (141) and rebounds (753) with the team. Wewe grabbed an impressive 36 total rebounds during a game last year, recorded five or more blocks in seven different contests, and posted eight separate games of 20+ rebounds.
The big man was tabbed a Big Shots Prep National All-Star, and was selected as a DME Beach and Ball Classic All Tournament Team member back in 2023.
Wewe is the sixth addition to the Bobcats' roster heading into the upcoming campaign. Samson Reilly signed with the 2023-24 MAAC Regular Season Champions during the fall of 2023, Quinnipiac announced the additions of Braylan Ritvo, Grant Randall and Jaden Zimmerman back on April 18, and the program revealed the signing of transfer Ryan Mabrey on May 7.
