11/8/2023 1:00:00 PM | Men's Basketball
HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac Men's Basketball and Head Coach Tom Pecora have announced the addition of Samson Reilly during the early the early signing, as revealed on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023.
Reilly has enjoyed a very successful high school career in Connecticut at East Catholic, playing for his father Coach Luke Reilly Sr.
"Quinnipiac Basketball is excited to officially welcome Samson Reilly to our program," Head Coach Tom Pecora said. "Samson is a dynamic guard with a tremendous work ethic both on the court and in the classroom. He will have an immediate impact on our program, and we are all looking forward to working with Samson as we continue to compete for championships."
During his time at East Catholic, Reilly has helped lead the Eagles to two consecutive Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC) titles. Reilly has helped the program compile a 61-8 record during his time at East Catholic.
Most recently in 2022-23, East Catholic also won the Central Connecticut Conference (CCC) title for the first time since 2020 – defeating Bloomfield behind Reilly's 32-point performance.
Reilly, an exceptional three-point shooter, has shot over 40% from distance in each of his first three high school seasons. The 6-foot-2 combo guard averaged 15 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds and 2 steals per contest in 2022-23. He was honored as an All-Conference selection in both 2022 and 2023, and was chosen for the All-CIAC Division I First Team following his junior year.
He has also enjoyed success in the classroom. Reilly recently recorded a 4.2 GPA, and is a National Honor Society member.
The Reilly name is synonymous with Connecticut Basketball. Samson's grandfather, Joe, and great uncle, Gene, are among some of the most successful high school coaches in the area. Reilly's brother, Luke, is currently playing at Florida Southern. He also has an uncle, Joe, who is the Head Coach at Wesleyan, and a cousin, Joey, who is currently playing Division I basketball at Sacred Heart.
