HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac baseball team defeated the Rhode Island Rams, 4-0, in a midweek non-conference matchup on Tuesday, March 26^th in Hamden.

The Bobcats will improve to 6-15 and 0-3 in the MAAC to start the 2024 season, while Rhode Island will fall to 5-13 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Quinnipiac got two of their first three batters to reach base on singles and CJ Willis singled up the middle to score Keegan O'Connor from second base and give QU an early 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the fifth with two runners on, Sebastian Mueller delivered with a two-run single to left center field and extended the Quinnipiac lead to three.

With the bases loaded in the bottom half of the sixth, Keegan O'Connor lined out to center field to score Sean Swenson from third and make it a 4-0 lead.

NEWS AND NOTES

Five different Bobcats recorded hits in the win.
Sebastian Mueller went 3-for-4 and drove in two runs to help lead the offense.
Jared Zimbardo picked up two hits in five at-bats.
Keegan O'Connor went 1-for-3 while driving in a run and scoring one.
CJ Willis picked up the game's first RBI and he finished his day going 1-for-3 at the plate.
Sam Favieri (1.0 IP), Frank Craska (1.0 IP), Brett Leighton (1.0 IP), Evan Jasek (2.0 IP), Ryan Hutchinson (1.0 IP), Jack Gannon (1.0 IP), Andrew Cubberly (1.0 IP), and Matt Alduino (1.0 IP) combined to allow just two hits and earn the shutout.
URI was held to seven base runners in the loss.

ON DECK

The Bobcats will hit the road for the first time in conference play as they battle the Siena Saints in a three-game set. A doubleheader is scheduled for Thursday, March 28 starting at 12:00 PM and game three is set for Friday at 1:00 PM.
