Bobcats Lose Series Finale To Rider, 11-1

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac baseball team fell in the series finale to the Rider Broncs, 11-1, on Sunday afternoon in Hamden.
The Bobcats will go to 5-15 and 0-3 in the MAAC to start the 2024 season, while Rider will improve to 5-14 overall and 3-0 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Rider scored the first run of the ballgame as a run crossed the plate on an RBI single in the top of the first inning. The Broncs would score again in the top of the second off a home run to left field.
Quinnipiac would narrow the gap as Kyle Garbowski doubled down the left field line to score Matt DeRosa and make it a 2-1 game.
The Broncs would strike for five runs in the fifth inning. An RBI single got the scoring started for Rider in the inning and a double down the left field line brought in two more runs. With two outs in the inning, an error would allow another run to come in and make it a 6-1 lead for the Broncs. With one runner on and two outs, an RBI triple to right center would give the Broncs a six-run lead.
Rider would get another run in the sixth inning, this time from an RBI groundout. In the top of the seventh, Rider would score on a balk and make it a 10-1 game on an RBI infield single.
