
Bobcats Get Swept By William & Mary

The Bobcats will go to 5-11 to start the 2024 season, while William & Mary will improve to 14-6 in the campaign.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tribe got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning as they scored six runs. The Tribe got their first three runs on three singles before they blasted a three-run home run to make it a 6-0 lead.
The Bobcats got a run back in the top of the second has Matt DeRosa singled to the shortstop and scored Kyle Garbowski. In the bottom half of the inning, William & Mary got that run right back as a run came across on a wild pitch.
In the top of the third, the Bobcats were able to pull within three as they scored three runs in the inning. Keegan O'Connor got the rally started with a single through the left side to score Gabe Wright. With one out in the inning, Kyle Garbowski singled to right field to score O'Connor. Christian Smith would come in to score before Garbowski was caught stealing at second to end the inning.
Quinnipiac would come within one run as they scored two more in the top of the fourth. Jared Zimbardo would hit a SAC fly to left to score Julian Buchman from third. With two outs in the inning, O'Connor put the ball in play and reached base on an error by the first baseman, which allowed Wright to score.
The Tribe didn't let the Bobcats get any closer as they put up the game's next seven runs. In the fourth, they scored two runs on an RBI double to left-center field to give them a 9-6 lead.
The Tribe would go on to score four runs in the bottom of the seventh before tacking on two more runs in the 8th inning. Both runs in the eighth came in unearned as the Tribe beat the Bobcats 16-6.

- Six different Bobcats recorded hits against William & Mary.
- Kyle Garbowski went 1-for-3, while driving in a run and scoring one.
- Jared Zimbardo went 1-for-4 from the leadoff spot and tallied an RBI.
- Gabe Wright went 1-for-4 and scored two runs, which led the team.
- Keegan O'Connor picked up a hit in four at-bats and drove in a run.
- Julian Buchman and Matt DeRosa each notched a hit in the effort.

- The Bobcats will be back in action on Wednesday, March 20 as they make the short trip to New Haven to take on the Yale Bulldogs at 3 PM.
