
Debellis Breaks School Record as Bobcats Place Second at MAACs

NEW YORK — First year Olivia Debellis became the second first year Bobcat to make her mark at the 2024 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, held Saturday and Sunday night at The Armory.
The Suffern, N.Y., native marked 3.60m in the pole vault, besting teammate Erin Brennan's school record in the event, hitting the mark on her first attempt.
She was one of the highlights in a five, gold-medal day for the Quinnipiac women's track and field program as the Bobcats posted their second-highest point total ever at the Championships, finishing with 153 as a team and a second place finish.
Rylie Smith, the meet's Most Outstanding Track Performer, was part of three of those, placing top spot alone in both the 200m (25.00) and 400m (55.36), as well as starting off the women's 4x400 relay that clocked in at 3:53.13 to finish the meet strong.
Alessandra Zaffina started the meet strong, pacing a 1-3 Bobcat finish in the mile en route to the indoor title. Rachel St. Germain joined her on the podium for a bronze medal finish.
Nyasia Dailey claimed the MAAC's fastest woman title, finishing in 7.60 seconds in the 60m dash to claim her first MAAC title.
On the meet, the Bobcats finished with 17 personal records and an additional 17 season bests.
CHAMPIONSHIP NOTES
Championship season continues for the Bobcats, as they head up to The TRACK at New Balance for the New England Championships on March 1-2 in Boston.

CHAMPIONSHIP NOTES
- The 153 points are a point off their highest total ever at the MAAC Indoor Championships. They totaled 154 at the 2020-21 Championships.
- Quinnipiac finished the weekend with six, first-place finishes and 13 total podium finishes. Lavelle and Smith led the way with a trio of medals.
- Two Bobcats took home extra hardware this weekend, as Smith was named the Most Outstanding Track Performer and Ashlynn Witt was the Most Outstanding Field Rookie.
