TIED UP IN THE BIG APPLE
- #18 Quinnipiac and #11 Cornell faced off in the 2024 Frozen Apple at Madison Square Garden and finished in a 3-3 tie.
- The Big Red held a 2-0 lead after the first 20 minutes, but the Bobcats came storming out in the second period, scoring two goals in the first 4:55 of the second frame.
- Cooper Moore netted the Bobcats' third goal of the game at the 14:00 mark in the middle period. Cornell would even the game just 1:15 into the third and the score would stay the same through overtime.
- First-year forward Chris Pelosi was named to the United States National Junior Team Preliminary Roster, as announced by USA Hockey on December 2nd.
- The IIHF World Junior Championships will be held from December 26th to January 5th in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
- A Boston Bruins draft pick, Pelosi has scored two goals and recorded three assists in his first season in Hamden.
- Grad student and captain Travis Treloar has started his league campaign strong, tallying six points in seven ECAC contests to start his final conference season. Treloar recorded three assists in the Quinnipiac win over Yale (Nov. 16).
- He was the first Bobcat this season to record three assists in a game and bested his previous college-high of two which he recorded five times over his time in Hamden and at Ohio State.
- November 2 was Rand Pecknold's 1100th game behind the bench for the Bobcats as they took on Holy Cross. In his 31st season with the squad, he has amassed 644 wins, the most by any active Division I coach in the country.
- He is one of four active coaches, joining Rick Gotkin, Frank Serratore, and Bob Daniels, and one of 14 coaches all-time to reach the mark.
- First-year defender and Boston Bruins draft pick Elliott Groenewold has shown off his 200-foot game to start his collegiate career, leading the team in both blocks and game-winning goals through the first 13 contests.
- He has blocked a team-best 20 shots while also providing a pair of game-deciding tallies, scoring winners at Holy Cross on Nov. 2 and, most recently, at Brown on Nov. 15.
- Jeremy Wilmer started his Bobcat career with a multi-goal outing against Penn State, scoring the first and third goals of the night in a 3-2 victory on Oct. 12.
- Wilmer leads the team with 14 points (4 goals, 10 assists) in thirteen contests this season. He currently sits fifth in the conference with 0.77 assists per game.
- Grad student Jack Ricketts brings clutch goalscoring talent to the Bobcats for his final year of college hockey, currently with nine game-winning goals to his name.
- He also entered the year as the nation's leading active Division I goal scorer, currently with 49.
