QU Remains Unbeaten in MAAC Play, Downs Marist on the Road

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Quinnipiac women's volleyball remained unbeaten in the MAAC portion of its schedule after pulling off a 3-2 win after trailing Marist 2-0 inside of James J. McCann Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Ginevra Giovagnoni led the Bobcats with 17 kills and 12 digs for a double-double, while Yagmur Gunes added 13 kills, six digs and three service aces. Damla Gunes contributed 42 assists and six digs in the victory.
With the win, Quinnipiac improved to 7-5 overall on the season and 3-0 in MAAC play, while Marist fell to 4-10 on the season and 2-1 in conference play.

SET ONE (25-13, Marist)
The two sides played to a 6-6 tie before Marist went on a 3-0 run to take a 9-6 lead, forcing a Quinnipiac timeout. Out of the break Marist pushed the lead to 20-10 before eventually taking the set 25-13.
SET TWO (26-24)
The two teams traded points to a 14-14 tie before Marist took a slim 15-14 lead to force a media timeout. Out of the break, Quinnipiac tied the set at 15-15 before trading points to an 18-18 tie in the frame. The Bobcats recorded points off a Marist error and Alexandra Tennon service ace to push ahead 20-18, forcing a timeout from the Red Foxes.
The Bobcats extended the lead to 22-20 in the set before Marist battled back to take the set, 26-24.
SET THREE (20-25)
The two sides remained close in play before Marist crept ahead 13-9. However, the Bobcats found their rhythm, battling back to take a 15-14 lead in the set before extending it to 20-16. Marist cut it as close as 22-20, however, the Bobcats never wavered, taking the set 25-20.
SET FOUR (16-25)
The two sides played to a 9-9 tie in the set before a 4-1 run from Quinnipiac forced a Marist timeout with the Bobcats leading 13-9. Quinnipiac's lead grew to 17-12 before Marist called its second timeout. Out of the break, the Bobcats extended the lead to 20-15 before eventually taking the set 25-16.
SET FIVE (7-15)
QU got off to a 4-0 lead behind two kills from Ginevra Giovagnoni and two Marist errors, forcing a timeout from the Red Foxes. Out of the timeout, QU extended the lead to 6-1 before Marist burned its final timeout of the match. Marist was able to cut it to as close as 8-6 in the set, however, the Bobcats pushed the lead to 10-6 before eventually taking the set, 15-7, and match, 3-2.
