Bobcats Take Stony Brook Invite Behind Deep Team Performance

STONY BROOK, N.Y. — The Quinnipiac Women's Cross Country team started its 2023 campaign with a victorious Stony Brook Invitational on Saturday morning, taking first place as a team on Long Island.
The Bobcats placed five runners inside the Top 10 to take the team victory ahead of hosts Stony Brook en route to a 15-point victory.
Liv DiStefano paced her squad with a second-place finish, while Rachel St. Germain finished fifth, Corinne Barney clocked in seventh and Emily Young and Alessandra Zaffina finished ninth and tenth, respectively to total Quinnipiac's 33 points.
SCORERS
The Bobcats have a week off before heading to Montgomery, the site of the 2023 MAAC Championship meet, for the Jasper Fall Invite on Sept. 16.

- Ashlynn Witt and Avery Palmucci completed their first runs in a Bobcat uniform. Witt placed 39th, finishing in 15:32.0, while Palmucci clocked in at 16:17.2 for a 62nd place finish.
- DiStefano finished with her eighth-career, top-five finish.
- St. Germain tied her best finish in a collegiate cross country race, finishing fifth on the day. She also hit that mark last season during the MAAC Championship meet en route to Most Outstanding Rookie honors.
- The Bobcats avenged a tie in last season's event, taking up half of the Top 10 spots today en route to the win.
