
Merryman, O'Neill finish 1-2 to Highlight Stony Brook Season Opener

STONY BROOK, N.Y. — The Quinnipiac women's cross country team got off to a winning start in the 2026 campaign, winning the annual Stony Brook Season Opener on Long Island on Saturday morning.
Senior Zoe Merryman and junior Madeleine O'Neill finished 1-2 atop the leaderboard, with the senior edging the junior by 0.4 seconds in the 4k race. Alexa Ciccone and Avery Palmucci also recorded top-10 finishes en route to help the Bobcats' effort.
Quinnipiac as a team finished the day with 31 points, 25 ahead of the hosts to win the meet. Fordham (70 points) and Sacred Heart (71 points) also competed in the curtain raiser for the 2026 season.
