HAMDEN, Conn. — Fresh off a victory in its season-opening victory on Long Island, the Quinnipiac women's cross country teams heads to the site of the 2023 MAAC Championships, as Twin Ponds on the Farm hosts the Jasper Fall XC Invite on Saturday morning in Montgomery.
The Bobcats placed five runners inside the Top 10 in its season-opening race, knocking off CAA foe Stony Brook and four other schools to open its 2023 campaign.

HAMDEN, Conn. — Fresh off a victory in its season-opening victory on Long Island, the Quinnipiac women's cross country teams heads to the site of the 2023 MAAC Championships, as Twin Ponds on the Farm hosts the Jasper Fall XC Invite on Saturday morning in Montgomery.
The Bobcats placed five runners inside the Top 10 in its season-opening race, knocking off CAA foe Stony Brook and four other schools to open its 2023 campaign.
SEASON OPENING VICTORY
- Led by a second-place finish from Liv DiStefano, Quinnipiac totaled 33 points to defeat hosts Stony Brook and the rest of the field at the 2023 Stony Brook Season Opener on Sept. 2 on Long Island.
- DiStefano and Rachel St. Germain placed in the Top 5, while Corinne Barney, Emily Young and Alessandra Zaffina all finished inside the Top 10 to lead the Bobcats.
- It was DiStefano's eighth career top five finish in a cross country race, while St. Germain tied her career-best finish.
- The Bobcats enter the 2023 regular season at No. 15 in the Northeast Region, beginning the season in the regional rankings for the second consecutive season.
- Carolyn Martin's club finished 12th in the region a season ago at the NCAA Regional Championships and were as high as 10th in the rankings a season ago as they look to push for an NCAA National berth.
- Quinnipiac was picked to again hoist the MAAC Championship trophy, earning seven of the league's 11 available first-place votes and 110 total points in the league's preseason poll, released on Aug. 23.
- The Bobcats were a point ahead of second-place Iona in the poll.
- Siena also collected a first-place vote, while Marist and Rider rounded out the top five.
- Quinnipiac will have a six-meet, regular-season on their docket, starting with its meet on Long Island on Sept. 2.
- The Bobcats will compete in a pair of high-profile meets, with the Paul Short Run on Sept. 30 and the XC23 Pre-National Meet on Oct. 14.
- The first championship meet will be on Oct. 7, as the Bobcats will defend their New England Championship at Franklin Park in Boston.
