Gunes Garners MAAC Player of the Week Honors

EDISON, N.J. - Sophomore outside hitter Yagmur Gunes was named the MAAC Player of the Week as announced by the conference on Tuesday, Sept. 19.
This is the second time this season that Gunes has been named the MAAC Player of the Week and the fifth overall weekly award honor for the Bobcats this season, as Leilani-kai Giusta garnered the award once and was named the Rookie of the Week twice.
In a 2-0 weekend for the Bobcats, Yagmur Gunes totaled 29.5 points, 24 kills, 20 digs, five service aces, and a block. In back-to-back sweeps, she averaged 4.92 points, 4.00 kills, 3.33 digs, and 0.83 service aces per set.
She opened the weekend with 15 kills and 12 digs in a victory over Niagara. She followed that performance with nine kills, eight digs, and five service aces in the sweep over Canisius.
On the season, Gunes is tops in the MAAC with 21 service aces, ranks third in points (143.5), and third in kills (120).
The Bobcats will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 23, when the Bobcats travel to take on Marist at 1 p.m.
