HAMDEN, Conn.— Quinnipiac women's ice hockey program welcomes Cydney Roesler, as the new Director of Player Development and Operations as announced by head coach Cass Turner on Wednesday, August 2.
Roesler returns to Bobcat Nation after completing a three-year career with the Connecticut Whale of the Premier Hockey Federation as a defender. She posted nine collective points through 34 career games with the Whale.
"We're thrilled to welcome Cydney Roesler '16 home!" said Turner. "Cydney will be a huge asset to our group and help continue to drive forward our culture, player development, and quest to win championships. She has valuable experience playing and leading, both with Team Canada and Quinnipiac, and was a critical part of winning an ECAC Regular Season and Tournament Championship in 2016. Cydney is a great communicator, has an excellent eye for the game, and brings outstanding energy to all she does. Cydney will play an integral role in our success this season and we couldn't be more excited to have her back!"
Roesler was a four-year member of the Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team and was named an assistant captain her junior year and served as the 14th captain in history during her senior year. She helped the Bobcats to their first ever ECAC Hockey championship title in 2016, with an assist on the game-winning goal in the 1-0 victory over Clarkson.
She was named the 2015-16 Coaches' Award Winner and won the program's Best Defender Award in 2014-15. Roesler became the 20th player and fourth defender to score 50 career points with the Bobcats.
Roesler also won a silver medal at the 2011 Women's Under-18 World Championship in Stockholm, Sweden where she was a member of Team Canada. She won gold with Team Canada at the 2012 Women's Under-18 World Championship in Prevov & Ziln, Czech Republic.
