Defending MAAC Champions Return August 24
7/18/2023 1:05:00 PM | Men's Soccer
HAMDEN, Conn. — The defending MAAC champs return to the pitch on August 24.
The Quinnipiac University men's soccer team begins its MAAC title defense with a three-game homestand at the QU Soccer Stadium, hosting Rhode Island (August 24), Boston College (August 28) and Northeastern (Sept. 5).
"We look forward to the new season ahead as this group embarks on their own unique journey," Da Costa said. "Our non-conference schedule features talented, well-coached teams that will help prepare us for the league schedule. We have a great group and can't wait to get back in front of our home crowd in Hamden on August 24!"
The next four - and six of the following eight - are away from their home confines, as the Bobcats square off in road bouts with La Salle (Sept. 9), Central Connecticut (Sept. 12), Columbia (Sept. 19) and the MAAC opener at Canisius (Sept. 23).
Quinnipiac's regular-season non-league slate finishes with a Tuesday afternoon matchup with Bryant on Sept. 26.
It is league play the rest of the way, as the Bobcats host Rider on Sept. 30 before hitting the road for a pair.
A rematch of the 2022 MAAC title game is on tap for Oct. 7 when the Bobcats head to New Rochelle to face Iona. Quinnipiac also drew the Gaels 1-1 in their regular season matchup last season.
After a road matchup at Marist on Oct. 11, four of the final six matches will be in Hamden with Siena on Oct. 14 and Mount St. Mary's on Oct. 18, followed by Manhattan on Oct. 25 and Niagara on Oct. 28.
Saint Peter's (Oct. 21) and Fairfield (Nov. 1) fill out the remaining road matches.
Quinnipiac completed its second-ever NCAA Tournament run in the fall 2022. The Bobcats finished the season with a 13-5-3 record, going 6-2-2 in conference play to win their fifth regular season MAAC championship. QU downed Niagara in the MAAC Semifinals, then defeated Iona in the league championship contest in Hamden. The Bobcats battled to a 3-2 loss in OT during the NCAA Tournament at #8 Vermont.
